Sunday Night Football – NFL Player Props

Jahmyr Gibbs OVER 17.5 Rushing Attempts (-115, Bally)

Minnesota’s defense has a reputation for being tough against the run, but they have been less formidable of late than many people realize. Since Week 13, their run defense ranks only 23rd in success rate. In 2 games that Jahmyr Gibbs has played without David Montgomery healthy this season, Gibbs has posted 23 rush attempts and 18 rush attempts. Dating back to last season, Gibbs has 17+ rush attempts in 4 of 5 games with Montgomery inactive. This is a matchup with massive playoff implications for the Lions. It wouldn’t be surprising to see Dan Campbell and Ben Johnson give their star running back as much as he can handle, with the possibility of a bye week as a reward for a win on Sunday Night Football.

Jameson Williams OVER 3.5 Receptions (-139, Bet365)

Minnesota has one of the most aggressive, blitz-happy defenses in the entire NFL, which could mean a big day for Jameson Williams in Week 18. Williams has been a frequent target of Goff when blitzed since Week 10, with 10 first read targets in that span – only 2 fewer targets than Amon-Ra St. Brown. Overall, Williams has seen the 2nd-most first read targets on the Lions since returning to the field in Week 10 and has managed 4+ receptions in 6 of his last 7 games. This is good value for an extremely talented player in what is likely to be a high-scoring affair.

Sam Darnold OVER 2.5 Passing Touchdowns (+170, DraftKings)

LB Alex Anzalone is expected to return to the field for Detroit on Sunday, but this unit still faces an extremely difficult task, trying to slow down one of the league’s most potent passing attacks. Since Week 11, Sam Darnold ranks 6th in EPA/play and 5th in success rate among qualified quarterbacks. He has an 18-to-2 touchdown-to-interception ratio in that span and has thrown 3+ touchdowns in 3 of his last 4 games. Detroit allowed Brock Purdy and an injury-ravaged San Francisco offense to throw 3 passing touchdowns in Week 17, and now they have the added difficulty of facing a more talented opponent on short rest. This is great value for Darnold to have a spike performance.
