In Week 4, we suffered our first losing week in this player prop article for the 2023 NFL season. Still, we only narrowly missed on both of our losses, giving us confidence that our approach will continue to yield more winners than losers over the course of the campaign. This weekend, there are 12 games on tap for Sunday’s NFL slate.

Though sides and totals are popular options for bettors, those lines are often picked over and extremely sharp by the time kickoff rolls around on Sunday afternoon. We are 9-5 in this article to begin the year, and we have three more prop leans for the Week 5 Sunday’s slate!

NFL Week 5 – Best Bets: Player Props

Zach Wilson o200.5 Passing Yards (-114), BetRivers

There is little doubt that Zach Wilson is the worst starting quarterback in the NFL right now or at least among the worst. However, there is also little doubt that the Denver Broncos’ defense is among the worst in the NFL as presently constructed. Denver’s defense is solely responsible for two of the three lowest defensive pressure rates for an individual game so far in 2023. Wilson has not been particularly good in any circumstances this fall, but he is averaging 6.5 yards per attempt from a clean pocket compared to 4.6 yards per attempt when under pressure. He should be able to eclipse this extremely low market number on Sunday against Denver.

Joe Burrow o245.5 Passing Yards (-115), PointsBet

Joe Burrow has been extremely underwhelming to begin the new campaign, but the vast majority of his struggles appear to be directly related to his calf injury, which has limited his overall mobility. As a result of not moving well, Burrow has been unable to perform well under pressure, averaging a dreadful 2.8 yards per attempt and completing only 37.8% of his pass attempts. Fortunately for him, the Cincinnati Bengals get a Week 5 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals, which had the lowest defensive pressure rate of any team in the NFL last weekend. Through the first four weeks of the season, Arizona has yet to have a single week finishing higher than 19th out of 32 teams in defensive pressure rate. Burrow and company should have their best offensive performance of 2023 to date on Sunday afternoon.

NFL DFS Pick’em

Jared Goff More Than 245.5 Passing Yards, PrizePicks

Heading into Week 5, the Carolina Panthers are one of only two teams in the entire NFL yet to have a single game with at least a 25.0% pressure rate on the opposing quarterback. Jared Goff has been sensational from a clean pocket so far in 2023, completing 75.0% of his pass attempts and averaging 8.3 yards per attempt. Facing an injury-plagued Carolina defense that has struggled mightily to begin the year, this is a worthwhile risk.
