Week 6 NFL GPP Recap: Revenge of the Bad Chalk

For those who got an early jump on building their NFL lineups earlier this week, NFL Week 6 proved to through a few more curveballs into things than previous weeks as we had several key injuries (both in and out) that drastically changed the landscape. With Todd Gurley ruled out late in the week, Malcolm Brown became one of the most obvious value chalk plays on the board. Unlike last week, this chalk was sour. After racking up 40 yards in the first few minutes of the game, Brown did LITERALLY nothing thereafter and left most of his DFS investors less profitable that those sitting across the poker table from Mike Postle at Stones Gambling Hall.

Before we get to the DFS results, I must say I was pleasantly surprised by the makeup of the NFL schedule today. Even with bye weeks now stealing some games away each week, we still had a nice split of six 1PM games followed by a solid 4-game schedule in the afternoon. As an avid enjoyed of RedZone on NFL Network, it was a nice change from some of the previous lopsided slates. I haven’t done the very easy due-diligence to look forward to weeks ahead, but I’m content being blindly optimistic that this is the new standard. However, much like my DFS teams today and my St. Louis Cardinals in the first two games of the NLCS, I’m pretty sure I’ll ultimately be disappointed.

User bbcombes, anchored by the combo of Matt Ryan to Auston Hooper, took down the DraftKings Millionaire Maker. As you’d expect, this lineup was nearly flawless behind that duo as well as Stefon Diggs proved to be the potential slate-breaker with his monster 46.5 fantasy point performance (7 receptions for 167 yards, 18 rushing yards and 3 TD’s). At just 1.8% owned, Auden Tate came through with 93 yards receiving at just $4.5K. Congrats to bbcomes!

User str8cashhomey84 just lived up to his/her nickname as this user took down the FanDuel Milly Maker! As you’d expect, the Week 6 cheat-code of Stefon Diggs was the highest scoring player on this roster, but every player on this roster obviously performed admirably. The Denver Broncos D/ST was the most “contratian” play of the bunch (at just 4.5% owned) and erupted for 23 FanDuel fantasy points. Congrats to str8cashhomey1000000!
