We’re teeing off for Wyndham Championship this week in Greensboro, NC, and weather will likely be a bit of an issue at times.

As usual in my Golf weather forecasts, we’re focusing more on wind than rain. While rain can halt play if it’s heavy enough, it also helps soften and slow the course, which helps as much as it hurts. With wind, there’s no helpful side; it’s all negative impact. And the impact can lead to dramatic differences in scoring. My goal is always to try and highlight the time frame with the lightest winds, the time with the strongest winds, and to see if there’s a cumulative advantage for one wave over another. You can then use this to your advantage when making your picks on DFS sites and sportsbooks.

Wyndham Championship Weather Report & Forecast

Round 1 Weather Projection – Thursday, August 3rd

Pretty nice weather in the AM, winds running between 5-10mph. By the afternoon we could see a few showers or isolated storms, with sustained winds around 10mph and stronger gusts.

Round 2 Weather Projection – Friday, August 4th

Still dealing with a chance of showers and isolated storms. Winds should start in the 5-10mph sustained range, likely closer to 10mph through the AM. By the afternoon, especially late afternoon, that could drop a touch and be more around 5mph sustained.

Round 3 Weather Projection – Saturday, August 5th

Dry, 5-10mph winds all day.

Round 4 Weather Projection – Sunday, August 6th

A nice way to close it out with dry weather and fairly light (5-10mph) winds.

Wyndham Championship Weather Forecast

As I mentioned in the intro, when it comes to finding a usable and predictable edge for PGA, wind matters a lot more than rain. In the case of The Wyndham Championship, I don’t see a huge edge, but do have a very slight lean for Thursday AM / Friday PM golfers, as they may see lighter winds on both days (though only by a few mph’s). Stay tuned to @KevinRothWx for the latest.
