Sunday, April 8th

We have a monster 15 game slate today on Yahoo! Let’s take a look at some of my favorite plays of the day.

Standout Arms

Charlie Morton vs Padres: $45
My strategy is pretty simple today in that I’m paying up for my pitchers, chasing the strikeout upside, and then fill in the best bats that I can. Morton is the first guy I’m plugging in, as he’s a massive (-268) favorite and provides a nice blend of upside, safe matchup, and value for the price. He had a nice start against the Orioles where he looked great. He went six shutout innings, gave up just three hits while striking out six batters. Last season he had a 3.70 SIERA, 26.4% K%, and a 10.9 SwStr%. It’s worth noting that he upped his SwStr% to 18.7% in his first start this season, which could play well against the Padres today. The Pardres struck out at the second highest clip in baseball last season and are swinging and missing again this season, as they rank 6th in K% so far this season with a 24.9% K%. Morton should be able to easily stifle this Padres offense at home today.
