Standout Arms

Noah Syndergaard vs Marlins: $45
Usually I would lean towards Scherzer in this spot, but I think I can get a similar score out of Thor today. There’s definitely risk here, as he is still grinding his way back from injury, but there were a lot of encouraging signs in his last start, where he looked solid over the first six innings before he ran into some trouble. His pitch count went to 96, so I think we can expect that he’s ready to go moving forward. The only thing left for him to do is to ramp up the strikeouts, and I believe that starts today. The matchup is as safe as can be, as the Marlins lineup is atrocious now that they lost Bour to the Phillies. Check PlateIQ for the Marlins combined ISO once the lineup is announced, it’s sure to be one of the lowest you will ever see. I’m not going to list Thor’s current stats here because of lack of innings lately, but last year he had a 2.74 SIERA and 27.4% K% and that is the kind of arm I’m expecting to close out the season.
