On/Off Metrics

On/Off statistics are hugely valuable in the NBA and are interesting because they’re so particularly unique to the sport of basketball. In football or baseball, the same players are always playing with each other, or if they aren’t the data isn’t really usable because of the small sample size. However, in basketball, players are constantly being rotated on and off the court. Thus, knowing how players perform in specific situations, five-man lineups, and other factors is really important in basketball.
