The expansion of sports betting throughout the United States means more options for gamblers. For the first time ever, New Jersey residents can bet on NFL Combine props. Combine and NFL Draft props still aren’t legal in the state of Nevada but like it did with Super Bowl prop bets, New Jersey is giving gamblers the option to wager on things previously exclusive to offshore sportsbooks.

PointsBet and DraftKings are the first sportsbooks to post NFL Combine props in New Jersey. Other books, like 888 Sports and SugarHouse, were offering which team will draft Murray in the NFL Draft, but no combine props. The Miami Dolphins are the favorites to land Murray at +200.

The offerings at PointsBet range from the total number of bench presses by any player to how fast Kyler Murray will run his 40-yard dash. DraftKings is offering similar props, along with which player will run the fastest 40 time and the total number of bench presses for Ohio State DE Nick Bosa.

Bulked up Murray may not run

Two of the most popular ones are Murray and Eisen’s 40 times. Murray reportedly ran a 4.38 40 at Oklahoma’s spring practice last year. PointsBet set the total at 4,37 and DraftKings has it a little higher at 4.39. Something to note though is Murray weighed in at 207 pounds Thursday. That’s 12 pounds heavier than the weight Murray played at in college.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on Thursday that Murray isn’t likely to do much at the NFL Combine. There’s a good chance he won’t even run the 40, especially now that he’s bulked up to 207 pounds. Murray may opt to wait and run at his pro day instead. If that’s the case, it will be graded as a no bet.

If Murray does decide to run, our lean is to the over. Murray’s 4.38 in spring practice was hand-timed and now with the added weight, 4.37 seems too low. He’s more likely to run in the low 4.4-range but the bet here is Murray decides to skip the drill and wait for his pro day.

Run, Rich, run

One of the most anticipated events at the combine is when NFL Network host Rich Eisen runs his 40-yard dash on the final day dressed in a suit. Eisen’s total is set at 6.02 with the under juiced to -200.

Eisen has run 6.02 or better three years in a row and four of the last five. Between 2005-2009, Eisen ran between 6.34-6.77 seconds but that’s back when he wore dress shoes. Since switching to running shoes in 2010, he’s run 6.03 or better seven times, with his five fastest times all coming in his last five attempts. Eisen’s run has also become such an event, he trains for it now, unlike the early years when it was more of a joke.

Breaking 6.00 isn’t easy but Eisen has done it two of the last three years. We’ll lean Eisen going just under the 6.02 total set at PointsBet.
