Western Conference All-Stars

Making a record 20th-consecutive appearance in the All-Star Game, LeBron James will lead the Western Conference in this year’s mid-season, cross-conference affair. He will be joined by some of the most talented players in the league, with two other former MVP winners in the starting lineup alongside him.

Though the Western Conference has plenty of star-studded names on their roster this year, not many of their players have a history of putting much energy into this event. Jokic is averaging 6.2 points per All-Star Game in his career. Doncic has a career average of 7.0 points in this game and is likely heading on vacation immediately after the conclusion of Sunday’s action.

At this point in his career, it is fair to wonder how much LeBron James has left to give in this event as well. The 39-year-old has already won All-Star Game MVP 3 times in his career, and he played only 14 minutes last season before retiring to the bench. It’s possible, if not likely, that we see a similar approach from him this time around as he gives the younger players on his team an opportunity to get some playing time.

Eastern Conference All-Stars

On Sunday, the Eastern Conference will be captained by Giannis Antetokounmpo, who has a history of taking the All-Star Game extremely seriously. Antetokounmpo was forced to leave the game last year after only 20 seconds due to injury, but he is still averaging 25.1 points per All-Star Game for his career, even after last year’s short stint pulled down his averages.

Antetokounmpo will be joined by last year’s All-Star Game MVP, Jayson Tatum, who scored 55 points and hit double-digit 3-pointers in 35 minutes last season. Donovan Mitchell and Damian Lillard combined for 66 points on 16-for-37 shooting from beyond the arc in that contest as well – playing alongside Tatum.

Adding to the talent pool for the Eastern Conference on Sunday is hometown favorite Tyrese Haliburton and Jaylen Brown – the latter is averaging 28.5 points in two career All-Star Games. Simply, this team is full of players who have a history of taking this event seriously.

NBA All-Star Game Prediction & Betting Pick

If Saturday night’s festivities were any predictor of things to come, it is extremely evident that Tyrese Haliburton wants to put on a show in front of his home fans. Haliburton hit the game-winning shot in the Skills Challenge and put together a strong opening round in the 3-Point Contest yesterday, looking like one of the most motivated players partaking in the events. He will also have the benefit of better shooting on his team in the All-Star Game, with Damian Lillard, Jaylen Brown, Donovan Mitchell, Jalen Brunson, and Tyrese Maxey each capable of knocking-down long-range shots.

On the other side of this matchup, the Western Conference has Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic, two players who have historically put minimal effort into this event. Anthony Edwards commented that he was going to shoot only left-handed shots during All-Star Weekend, which gained more validity after he shot left-handed during the Skills Challenge on Saturday.

The Eastern Conference is the side to target on Sunday, especially with them being priced as an underdog.
