MLB Daily Grind Down June 7th Part 2

The RotoGrinders MLB Grind Down article will give you an in-depth analysis into the MLB schedule. This article will break down the numbers for every single game and give you analysis on which trends you can exploit.
While matchups are a major factor in daily fantasy baseball, there are plenty of other factors to consider such as injuries, weather, and salaries. The analysis should point you in the right direction, but it is still up to you to decipher the information and make your own selections. No sport has more variance than baseball. The best choice is not always the right choice but following the trends will win you money over time. (any fp listed uses Fanduel’s scoring system)

Pitchers
- Home Mike Leake has been fantastic on the year. His ERA is a 2.75. I am still not sold on his WHIP of 1.31 which is more in line with a pitcher who has around a 4.00 ERA and I imagine his luck will run out at some point in the season. It might not be this start but it very well could be against this tough STL team. STL is batting .264 on the road, .288 versus right-handers, and .300 over the last 7 days with 10 HRs. STL ranks 5th in runs scored and has recorded the 9th fewest Ks on the year. Avoid
- Away This is a road start for Adam Wainwright versus a tough home team. Not that his 3.12 road ERA is terrible. It just might not be the best day to pay for him. He has GPP winning upside so he is in play every time he takes the mound. CIN is batting .264 at home, .249 versus right-handers, and .232 over the last 7 days. They rank 9th in runs scored and have recorded the 8th most Ks. In Play
Batters
- Home Jay Bruce and Brandon Phillips have healthy BvP lines versus Wainwright. Jay Bruce has been hot over the last 7 days with 22.75 fp. Joey Votto and Shin-Soo Choo or both batting over .300 versus right-handers. Choo, Todd Frazier and Xavier Paul all have batting averages over .300 at home.
- Away David Freese is 4-8 with 1 HR versus Leake. Matt Holliday is 6-14 versus him also and Yadier Molina is 4-12 with 1 HR. Matt Carpenter has been hot producing 29.75 fp over the last 7 days. Molina, Carpenter, Beltran, and Craig are all batting over .300 versus right-handers.

Las Vegas
- OU 6.5
- Favored NYM -200
Pitchers
- Home Matt Harvey just got hung for 4 ER versus this same MIA team in his last start. That is great for us because that will scare a few players away from playing him. Overlay will be a big concern here tonight but if your goal is to not lose at the SP position then Harvey is your guy. MIA is batting .229 on the road, .234 versus right-handers, and .269 over the last 7 days. The rank 30th in runs scored and have recorded the 6th fewest Ks. Target
- Away Jose Fernandez takes the hill as the huge underdog in this one but I think he is playable. It is not like NYM is an offensive powerhouse either and he had his way with them just a few days ago. He is a much worse pitcher on the road with an ERA of 5.04 but he has been able to put together a few solid road performances including a 7 IP, 0 ER, 1 H gem in PHI. He is a high risk/reward play in a GPP. NYM is batting .215 at home, .232 versus right-handers, and .219 over the last 7 days. They rank 23rd in runs scored and have recorded the 7th most Ks. In Play
Batters
- Home Justin Turner and Daniel Murphy are both batting over .300 versus right-handers. Marlon Byrd has been hot over the last 7 days 20.5 fp. John Buck has 1 HR versus Fernandez in 5 AB.
- Away Marcell Ozuna, Juan Pierre, and Ed Lucas have all been hot over the last 7 days. All three had great games versus Harvey the last start. Juan Pierre has solid career numbers also versus Harvey.

Las Vegas
- OU 8
- Favored PHI -146
Pitchers
- Home Alfredo Figaro is a spot starter which means he will be on a very limited pitch count that will cap at 80. Unless he pitches flawless then there is no upside in the play because he probably will not make it 5 IP. PHI is batting .247 on the road, .250 versus right-handers, and .261 over the last 7 days with 13 HRs. They rank 26th in runs scored and have recorded the 15th fewest Ks. Avoid
- Away Cliff Lee is much better when he gets away from PHI. His road ERA is a stellar 1.53. This MIL team just spotted him for 3 ER in 7.2 IP but he recorded 11 Ks in the process. MIL is a tough home team batting .263 at home, .274 versus left-handers, and .266 over the last 7 days. They rank 21st in runs scored and have recorded the 11th fewest Ks. In Play
Batters
- Home Jonathan Lucroy has been hot producing 33.25 fp over the last week. Ryan Bruan, Jean Segura, Carlos Gomez, and Aoki are all batting over .300 versus left-handers. Braun, Gomez, Aoki, and Ramirez are all batting over .300 at home.
- Away Domonic Brown is on fire with 54.25 fp over the last 7 days. Every time I write about this kid, that number keeps going up so ride the hot streak. Jimmy Rollins has also been hot producing 25.75 fp over the last week. The Phi look to be in a good spot to produce today but Figaro has been solid so I would not over do things.

Las Vegas
- OU 7.5
- Favored KAN -230
Pitchers
- Home James Shields will be at the top of everyone’s list tonight against HOU. Shields is an electric ace who has huge upside tonight. Like with Harvey, overuse will be a big concern here. HOU is batting .255 on the road, .237 versus right-handers, and .243 over the last 7 days. They are 19th in runs scored and have recorded the 1st most Ks.
- Away Outside of 1 bad start, Jordan Lyles has been decent as a starter. It would be crazy to take him today versus Shields. KAN is batting .252 at home, .250 versus right-handers, and .226 over the last 7 days. they rank 25th in runs scored and have recorded the 2nd fewest Ks.
Batters
- Home Even I am not dumb enough to play the fade on this one.
- Away Salvador Perez is batting .333 versus right-handers and .314 at home. I like Alex Gordon also with the splits in his favor and because his price has dropped. KAN has been a worse offensive team than HOU, so I would not delve to deep into them.
