What Vegas Says
- Over/Under Total Runs – 7.5
- Favored Team – CIN -120
Pitcher Grind Down
STL – Joe Kelly has been very good for the Cardinals this season. He has a 3.01 ERA and a nice K rate of 6 per 9 innings. I just have a hard time taking him against good offenses. The Reds lineup has some serious power against right hand pitchers and this is expected to be a low scoring game. I like some of the other cheaper pitchers a bit better. Rating = 4
CIN – Mat Latos has been one of the best pitchers in baseball since the All-Star break. Don’t believe me? In his last 7 starts, he has a 1.47 ERA with 39 K’s over 49 innings pitched while holding opponents to a .217 batting average. He has a tough test ahead of him tonight against the Cardinals, but I think he has a better shot of getting the win than Kelly does. Rating = 6
Batter Grind Down
STL – Latos has been on fire lately, if you really want to take someone from the Cardinals though, I would say that Matt Carpenter is a good play. He is batting an insane .377 at home this season.
CIN – The Reds bats are in a decent spot tonight. I think the addition of Ryan Ludwick is really going to help the Reds offense. I like both Shin-Soo Choo and Joey Votto tonight.

What Vegas Says
- Over/Under Total Runs – 10.5
- Favored Team – COL -120
Pitcher Grind Down
COL – Take a quick look at the over under. Avoid Chad Bettis. Rating = 1
SF – Take a quick look at the over under. Avoid Yusmeiro Petit. Rating = 1
Batter Grind Down
COL – These Coors Field games make it really tough to put a team together because you end up wanting to take 3-4 hitters from both teams. Then if it ends up being low scoring, you are pretty much screwed. That said, how can you not love the matchup for both teams. The Rockies take on Yusmeiro Petit who has bounced around the majors and minors for a few years. He is a below average right hand pitcher. All Rockies are in play tonight, all of them.
SF – The Giants on the other hand take on Chad Bettis who is giving up an OPS over .800 to both left and right handed hitters. You have to love the chances of Hunter Pence, Pablo Sandoval, and Brandon Belt to homer. Sounds like Posey may get the night off though.

What Vegas Says
- Over/Under Total Runs – 9.0
- Favored Team – ARI – 110
Pitcher Grind Down
ARI – Looks like David Holmberg is going to get the start for the D-Backs tonight. He is a young lefty that has looked pretty good in the minors with a 2.66 ERA. But that was in the minors and this will be his first career major league start. I always like to avoid these young pitchers making their first start. Rating = 3
SD – Ian Kennedy gets to face his old team. Kennedy has pitched better since being traded to the Padres, but he is running into a hot D-Backs offense. The over/under is high for a reason. Rating = 4
Batter Grind Down
ARI – No BvP here to go off of, but there are a couple of guys that stand out. Adam Eaton has an on base percentage close to .400 this month and has the lefty/righty matchup. I also like Mr. Goldschmidt, Kennedy has struggled with HR’s this season.
SD – Not sure what to expect from the D-Backs pitcher, but I think taking any Padres hitters that are good against lefties is a smart play.

What Vegas Says
- Over/Under Total Runs – 5.5
- Favored Team – LAD -280
Pitcher Grind Down
LAD – This is by far the lowest over/under that I have ever seen. I believe I have seen one as low as 6.0, but 5.5!? This is just crazy. Clayton Kershaw takes the mound and is by far the best pitcher on the board. You will have to pay for him, but the Cubs are not good against lefties and Kershaw owns a K rate of almost 9 per 9 innings. Rating = 10
CHC – Travis Wood has pitched well this season, but his numbers have been dropping off lately. He is also the biggest underdog of the day. Rating = 2
Batter Grind Down
LAD – Hanley Ramirez and Yasiel Puig both hit lefties well, but this game is projected to be so low scoring that it’s hard to take hitters in this one.
CHC – Vegas doesn’t believe in the Cubs bats and neither do I, avoid.

TEX vs R | TEX BvP | SEA vs L | SEA BvP | ||||||
What Vegas Says
- Over/Under Total Runs – 7.0
- Favored Team – TEX -120
Pitcher Grind Down
SEA – Here’s another game with a good pitching matchup. Hisashi Iwakuma has had his way with the Rangers lineup this season. In 4 starts, he has a 2.60 ERA and 24 K’s over 27 innings pitched. He has a high K rate. The only thing I worry about is his run support. Rating = 6
TEX – Of the two pitchers, I have to give a slight edge to Derek Holland because the Mariners just aren’t very good against lefties. On the season, they are only batting .230 against lefties with an OPS of .670. Looks like a great spot for Holland, not only the matchup but Safeco Field is a pitcher’s park. Rating = 8
Batter Grind Down
SEA/TEX – I think it’s safe to avoid all bats in this one. Iwakuma has owned the Rangers and the Mariners have really struggled against left hand pitching.
