What Vegas Says

Pitcher Grind Down

HOUJordan Lyles has been surprisingly good his last few starts, topped off by his last start against the Mariners in which he threw 7 scoreless innings with 10 K’s. Milwaukee is one of those teams that can put up runs in a hurry, but I am going to go out on a limb here and say that he pitches really well tonight. Good GPP option. In Play

MILAlfredo Figaro had an excellent start in his last start as well, but his was against the Marlins who were without Stanton. I’m still not sold on Figaro, but a matchup against the Astros is a risk that I am willing to take. For his price, I think he has great upside. In Play

Batter Grind Down

HOU – I think this game is going to be much lower scoring than Vegas does. I actually think that we will see both pitcher’s play well. I never like to take Astros bats so why start tonight.

MIL – Lyles is pitching well, has had great history against the Brewers, and is pitching at home. I think the Brewers struggle.

What Vegas Says

Pitcher Grind Down

STLAdam Wainwright is my favorite pitching option of the night. He faces the Cubs who can’t hit on the road and he faces them at home where Wainwright has a 1.35 ERA. Not a lot to break down here, just a great matchup. Target

CHCJeff Samardzija is a great young pitcher, but tonight is not going to be his night. The Cardinals are such a tough team to get outs against and I highly doubt he will get any run support. Avoid

Batter Grind Down

STL – This should be a fairly low scoring game and the Cardinals production comes from all over the order so it’s hard to try to pick one or two guys out. But if I have to choose, it will be Matt Carpenter, he is an on base machine.

CHC – Not a fan of the Cubs, just avoid them.

What Vegas Says

Pitcher Grind Down

ARIRandall Delgado gets the start for the D-Backs and even though it is against the Marlins, I am not a big fan of him tonight. Just not much upside. Avoid

MIA – Nate Eovaldi is pitching in a hitter’s park and is a huge underdog. No thank you. Avoid

Batter Grind Down

ARIPaul Goldschmidt had the big game that we predicted he would last night and he is in another great spot tonight against Eovaldi. Goldy has actually been better against righties this season and can be taken tonight at a bit of a discount. I also like Miguel Montero, he is coming out of his slump.

MIA – When Giancarlo Stanton is locked in, HR’s come in bunches and he single handedly beat the D-Backs last night with his two HR’s. I say you should ride the hot bat.

What Vegas Says

Pitcher Grind Down

LAA – I never thought I would say this but I am all about Joe Blanton tonight! The Mariners are not an offense that scares me and Blanton is a huge favorite that should get plenty of run support. I’m calling 7 strong innings with 6+ K’s and a win. Target

SEA – I’m not sold on Jeremy Bonderman and I doubt you are either. Not to mention he has to face the Angels who put up 11 runs last night.

Batter Grind Down

LAA – I love the Angels bats once again. Go look at Josh Hamilton game log, he has really been producing over the last two weeks. I think he is very underpriced and should be taken on almost every site. I also like Mike Trout and Howie Kendrick.

SEA – Like I said, I think Blanton makes a rare start in which he dominates. So why would I take any hitters against him?

What Vegas Says

Pitcher Grind Down

SF Matt Cain has basically the same pitching sabermetrics as he did last season, yet his ERA is off the charts. I think he has just run into some bad luck and that he will get those HR’s under control. I love the matchup tonight against the Padres. If you can’t afford Wainwright, Cain has similar upside at a cheaper price. Target

SDAndrew Cashner is much better at home than he is on the road. He has a 4.46 ERA on the road compared to a 2.65 ERA at home. He is a big underdog and will likely have to throw a shutout in order to pick up a win. I don’t think that happens. Avoid
