The Agents of Fantasy are a brand new segment where TJ brings his love for Fandom into the Daily Fantasy Sports circle, to help you take down tournaments.

June 10th

For each segment, the Fantastic Four will include my top 4 pitchers for tournaments on FanDuel and DraftKings. At times, they’ll include plays who are picking up ownership if I feel like the rostership still doesn’t reflect their upside. Typically, if there is a cash game lock and someone who is pushing 50% rostered, these pitchers won’t get mentioned. However, sometimes on smaller slates, four pitchers won’t be an option.

The Fantastic Four – Best MLB DFS Picks

We have a HUGE slate tonight, with all 30 MLB teams lining up to play. Despite this, we weirdly don’t have any top pitchers that stand out, and even the top stacks don’t separate themselves from the rest by an overly large margin. With this being the case, we find ourselves getting away from some of the “top” options, that the field is getting to more than they should.

Aaron Ashby 8600 FD / DK – Ashby has been fantastic so far this season, showing a high strikeout upside while keeping the ball on the ground any time opposing hitters make contact. The Nationals aren’t an overly dangerous lineup against left-handed pitching, especially if Nelson Cruz is still out of the lineup. Ashby is projected to be rostered more than I was expecting, however, we should still be able to get him at a sub-10% clip, and I’m enamoured with his upside tonight.

Triston McKenzie 9800 FD / 8800 DK – Mckenzie has always shown a ton of strikeout upside, and this year he has finally started to get the rest of his game under control as well. He faces an Oakland team that is among the worst lineups in baseball, and although we don’t have the benefit of Oakland’s home stadium, I still love McKenzie tonight. His DK price is fantastic and his strikeouts score better on FD, so I love his ability to match the upside of tonight’s more expensive, more highly rostered pitchers.

Luis Garcia 8900 FD / 9100 DK – One of the rare pitchers on tonight’s slate more expensive on DK than he is on FD, Garcia isn’t exactly what you’d call the highest upside pitcher. Although his strikeout rates don’t match the players above, Garcia has done a great job of limiting hard contact this season. What Garcia lacks in strikeout ability he makes up for in a strong matchup against Miami, and he isn’t picking up near as much rostership as any of the other top options. This is less about how much I like Garcia and more about how little the field is playing him.

Luis Castillo 8700 FD / 8500 DK – Castillo started the year really struggling and has finally come into his own. He faces a Cardinals team I fear a lot more against left-handed pitching, and although the lineup has hard-hitting players who don’t strike out, they also come with multiple players above a 30% K rate. Castillo is another player in the mid-tier range who isn’t getting rostered by the field and can match the upside of the high-priced players.

Earth’s Mightiest MLB DFS Stacks For Today

Toronto Blue Jays – The Jays are my favorite stack among the teams that are more heavily rostered for a few reasons. Primarily, they have the best matchup on the slate, and project as the highest-scoring team on the board. Secondly, while the top of the lineup will be played in mass, this won’t be the case for the back half. Santiago Espinal has been one of the Blue Jays top hitters all season, and makes a lot of sense at the 2B position. Cheap and unplayed at 3rd, you have Cavan Biggio, who since being called back up from the minors looks to have rekindled his form from early on in his career. I like the Jays from top to bottom, and there are multiple different ways you can stack them.

Baltimore Orioles – I was heavy on the Orioles last night against lefty Kris Bubic and they let me down. Despite this, I’m going right back to the well with Baltimore tonight. Facing what looks to be a reverse splits righty who doesn’t strike anyone out and gets hit hard, it’s tough to see the Orioles not saving us from the wreckage of playing them last night. Mullins through Odor all peek my interest, and the field doesn’t look to be rostering Baltimore near as much as they should be.

If I’m building a single lineup tonight, the Orioles and the Blue Jays are most likely going to be the two teams I build around. Having said this, if multi-entering, there are a multitude of teams to choose from. I expected the Yankees to be coming in highly rostered tonight, but they actually don’t project for the amount I thought would happen. This leads me to liking them more than originally planned, while teams like the Brewers are picking up more rostership than I’m comfortable with. Some of favorite stacks tonight outside the Jays, Orioles and Yankees are the Rangers, Dodgers, Braves, Twins and Padres, however you can truly play any of the stacks above a 4 total today.
