Primetime Parlay: Bears vs. Commanders Same Game Parlay Picks

washington800

Last year, ScoresAndOdds’ ParlayIQ tool helped us create a variety of fun same-game parlay tickets throughout the NFL season. Through simulations, the tool examines the potential value various betting lines offer on sports betting sites. Along with the simulations, we will examine stats, roster news, trends, player props, and betting odds across sports betting sites to find the best price for our same game parlay ticket. For this article, we build a same-game parlay for the Chicago Bears at Washington Commanders on Thursday Night Football.

Last year, the Bears played the Washington Commanders on a Thursday night. Apparently, the game went over so well that the NFL decided that Amazon Prime should feature this contest in 2023. The Bears let victory slip through their grips last week after coming out with an onslaught against the Denver Broncos. The Commanders made it to overtime against the Eagles before losing the game. The Commanders look like a peripheral contender, while the Bears look like a candidate for a new coach. Let’s see if we can make things interesting tonight with a same-game parlay ticket on FanDuel Sportsbook.

Bears vs. Commanders Same Game Parlay

FanDuel Sportsbook features the Commanders as six-point favorites at the time of this writing. The implied game total is 44.5 points. The public and sharp bettors seem to favor the Bears for this contest, with 49% of tickets and only 41% of the betting handle lying on the Washington side. As for the over/under, in what seems to be a game where both teams will struggle to score any points, 72% of the betting money lies with the over. Perhaps both offenses can click.

Perhaps they will… The Bears are dead last in sack rate this season and sit near the bottom of the league in yards per pass attempt. With Eddie Jackson and Jaylon Johnson out for this game, the Washington pass offense might be able to put on a show with Sam Howell and company. Up to this point, both teams are in the bottom third of the league in yards per pass attempt. Bookmakers might think this is a get-right spot for both offenses.

Justin Fields found his get-right spot last weekend against the Broncos — hanging a game’s worth of offense on the Broncos by halftime. Unfortunately for Fields and the Bears, Chicago could not maintain their lead and somehow let Denver come back and win in regulation. A half’s worth of bad play-calling, as well as questionable decisions, led to another Bears’ defeat. Who knows how much longer Matt Eberflus has in Chicago? A loss tonight with a long break could result in a change at the helm ahead of Week 6.

The Commanders will have both Curtis Samuel and Jahan Dotson available in their receiving corps ahead of tonight’s game. Washington came back against the Eagles to force overtime before succumbing to the undefeated birds. After a tough loss, one would expect Washington to come home very motivated to get back on track with a win.

Let’s see what ParlayIQ and the nearly 5,000 simulations of tonight’s contest think about a possible betting ticket to sweat along with the game.

Same Game Parlay Picks for TNF

Justin Fields Over 45.5 Rushing Yards

With regard to this rushing prop, Justin Fields would be 2 for 4 this season — exceeding this number in two contests. Last week, the success found by Khalil Herbert as well as Fields’ success passing the football led to a lesser need for the young quarterback to use his feet. That said, we know that when Fields is in open space, he is a threat to score from anywhere on the field.

Will he find open space? The Commanders gave up the most rushing yards to the quarterback position over the first four weeks of the season. Now, Washington had to play Jalen Hurts and Josh Allen already so we are left with the timeless chicken-or-the-egg scenario. Are the Commanders that bad at stopping the rush? Were the opposing quarterbacks the issue? My guess — and what I assume is projected by ParlayIQ — is that Justin Fields should be projected for plenty of attempts against a team so weak in this area.

Also, Justin Fields’ best weapon is his legs. With nothing to lose, we shouldn’t be surprised to see the coaching staff utilize everything and anything at their disposal. ParlayIQ rates this as one of the top props of the night, with over 70% of simulations featuring the Fields over. That is good enough for me.

Jahan Dotson Over 41.5 Receiving Yards

The Bears’ pass defense is pretty bad, and a couple of injuries give me hope for Jahan Dotson. The second-year receiver entered the year with plenty of promise for fantasy football players. Unfortunately, sledding has been pretty tough for the talented wideout.

With issues on the back end, tonight might be the night to attack Chicago through the air. The Bears have only allowed 3.8 yards per rushing attempt this season. The path of least resistance is clearly with the passing game.

ParlayIQ is pretty high on this prop. While I am a bit nervous, I am going to trust our simulations.

Antonio Gibson Over 12.5 Receiving Yards

Finally, the Bears have allowed the most receiving yards to the running back position in the first four weeks of the season. Antonio Gibson is the change-of-pace back for Washington and should receive a few targets out of the backfield. With Brian Robinson primarily a rushing threat, look for Gibson to get most of the third-down and two-minute work.

I am a bit worried about Gibson and his multiple fumbles this season. However, it feels like Gibson would lose work rushing before he lost work on third down. Given the opposing defense, I think Gibson exceeding this total is favorable.
