Bears vs. Texans Same Game Parlay Picks and Predictions for Today
DraftKings Sportsbook pegs the Houston Texans as big favorites at home against the Chicago Bears. Caleb Williams did not offer much in the way of passing in Week 1 of the NFL season but looks to rebound against a Texans defense that was beaten deep repeatedly against the Colts. C.J. Stroud and his bevy of pass catchers look to light up the scoreboard for the home crowd. We have primetime football on a Sunday night. Let’s build a same game parlay for Sunday Night Football.
Bears vs. Texans Same Game Parlay Preview
The Texans opened as 5-point favorites against the Chicago Bears. Through the week, the number has moved toward the Texans, as betting splits for the Las Vegas spread are in contrast. Per ScoresAndOdds, 59% of bets were placed for the Bears’ side of the spread, while 83% of dollars fell with the Texans. The line moved toward the Texans in their home opener. This is not surprising after watching the Bears’ offense in Week 1.
Normally, we see the public attack overs, especially in primetime for island games. For this week, though, tickets and money agree. The most common bet is on the under, but the implied game total of 46.5 points has not budged throughout the week. The game will be played in a dome, and the Houston defense allowed chunk play after chunk play last week. However, Caleb Williams was not promising in his first start.
Williams struggled in Week 1 but did not make the big mistake. He finished 14 of 29 for 93 yards. He didn’t throw a touchdown or an interception but took two horrible sacks for 29 yards. Williams missed receivers and had plenty of passes batted down. The game should slow down for Williams, and a couple of big plays could build his confidence. He played well in the preseason and is highly touted out of college.
The Texans were beaten deep repeatedly by Anthony Richardson and company in Week 1. Alec Pierce secured a long touchdown pass that felt like Anthony Richardson threw it one million yards. Richardson missed a wide open Adonai Mitchell twice for easy touchdowns throughout the game. If Williams can get into a rhythm, big plays could be available down the field. The Texans allowed the second fewest yards per rush in 2023. They sell out to stop the run. Williams might be able to rebound.
The Bears could potentially be without two key pieces on offense. Rome Odunze is questionable for Sunday night with an MCL injury. Keenan Allen appears to be a game time decision for the Bears. An offense that felt loaded could be without key pass catchers. If one or both cannot play on Sunday night, expect D.J. Moore to be targeted throughout the game, with a few extra looks going to Cole Kmet. Williams targeted Moore 8 times in Week 1.
Houston will face what appears to be a better Bears’ defense at home on Sunday night. Stefon Diggs, though, ingratiated himself to Houston fans with a pair of touchdowns to start his tenure with the Texans. Joe Mixon was the star in Week 1 for the Texans, however. Mixon led the league in rushing in Week 1 and wore down the Colts at the end of the game. With Dameon Pierce questionable, the backfield is Mixon’s on Sunday night. Will the Bears be able to stop the veteran?
Center Juice Scruggs is questionable and will test his groin before the game. Nico Collins and Dalton Schultz practiced in full on Friday and should be ready to go. The Texans’ offense should be mostly complete heading into this primetime affair. Will they be able to dazzle the crowd with a high volume passing display from C.J. Stroud? Will Joe Mixon steal the show again?
Let’s consider some NFL props for tonight’s same game parlay.
Same Game Parlay Picks for Bears vs. Texans
- Joe Mixon Over 71.5 Rushing Yards
- D.J. Moore Over 66.5 Receiving Yards
- Cole Kmet Over 18.5 Receiving Yards
Joe Mixon Over 71.5 Rushing Yards
Mixon received a pile of work in Week 1 against the Colts and was extremely effective in salting the game away for Houston. Against a suspect Chicago Bears squad, I wouldn’t expect any changes to Houston’s philosophy. Pound the ball when possible, and make Caleb Williams beat you with his arm.
Mixon has no competition in the backfield and is likely looking at 20 carries again. If the Texans indeed end up with a lead, those 20 rushing attempts seem cemented. Last weekend, the Titans were able to move the ball on the ground with Tony Pollard. Pollard averaged more than 5 yards per attempt after struggling in Dallas as a breakout candidate in 2023.
Mixon might be a great candidate for a rushing yards ladder and has a legitimate chance at breaking the century mark tonight.
D.J. Moore Over 66.5 Receiving Yards
D.J. Moore seems to be the healthiest receiver in Chicago. Keenan Allen might not play. Rome Odunze might be on a snap count. D.J. Moore is incredibly talented and very underrated; he saw the most targets in Chicago in Week 1.
If the Bears fall behind, we should anticipate plenty of throws for Caleb Williams. The inefficiency last weekend is a concern, but Chicago won’t have a choice if they are trailing on the road. Even if the game is close or Chicago is ahead, the Texans’ defense sells out to stop the run. Look for Moore to approach 10 targets again on Sunday night. If Odunze or Allen are limited or out, Moore could see an even bigger workload.
Cole Kmet Over 18.5 Receiving Yards
Finally, we are going to add another Bear to our same game parlay. Cole Kmet was hardly used in Week 1 but might see his number called more often this week with an injury-riddled receiving corps. If Allen doesn’t play, his 11 targets from Week 1 need to go somewhere. We already expect Moore to soak some up, but he can’t see 20 targets.
This is a very, very measly number for Cole Kmet. If he gets a few extra looks on Sunday night, 20 yards is very likely.
Bears vs. Texans Parlay Odds
- Joe Mixon Over 71.5 Rushing Yards
- D.J. Moore Over 66.5 Receiving Yards
- Cole Kmet Over 18.5 Receiving Yards
