MLB Player Props Today

Max Fried o17.5 outs recorded (-135), BetMGM

The Baltimore Orioles have been strong against left-handed pitching so far this year, ranking third in OPS, fourth in ISO, second in walk rate, and fifth in strikeout percentage. However, they have compiled those impressive stats against not-so-impressive southpaws. Today, they will have to contend with Max Fried, arguably the most talented left-handed pitcher in baseball. Fried has only made it through six innings in one of his four starts this year, but he would likely be 4-for-4 if not for an injury on Opening Day and poor weather in his most recent start against the New York Mets. Take the over here.

George Springer o1.5 total bases (+120), BetMGM

Rich Hill is pitching for the Pittsburgh Pirates today, which means we have to find at least one right-handed bat to take against him. Springer has struggled to begin the new campaign, but he has been much better against southpaws than he has against right-handers, which makes this an appealing look at plus money. In his career, Springer owns a .271 batting average, .885 OPS, and a 144 wRC+ against left-handed pitching. Hill has struggled mightily against right-handed hitters this year, with a 5.99 FIP and a .290 opponent batting average. Trust Springer to get the job done in this spot.

MLB DFS Pick’em

Josh Naylor less than 0.5 hitter strikeouts, PrizePicks

Entering play on Friday, Josh Naylor owns a career 17.9% strikeout rate, including a 19.3% strikeout rate through his first 109 plate appearances in 2023. His contact ability is at its best against right-handed pitching, evident by a 16.3% strikeout rate. Bailey Ober, tonight’s starter for the Minnesota Twins, has struggled to get many swings and misses against left-handed hitters during the early portion of his career, with only a 20.3% strikeout rate in these situations. At-bats against the bullpen are always a risk with these types of investments, but Naylor should be trusted to put the ball in play tonight.
