MLB Player Props Today

Starling Marte o0.5 stolen bases (+240), BetMGM

Last season, Starling Marte was playing through significant lower-half injuries, which limited him to only 18 stolen bases in 118 games played. After having offseason surgery to address the issue, Marte already has seven stolen bases in 2023 in only 19 games played. Joey Bart, the likely starting catcher for the San Francisco Giants this evening, ranks 24th out of 27 catchers in pop time (minimum 5 attempts) to second base so far this year. Marte should have the green light if he manages to get to first base this evening.

Francisco Lindor o0.5 stolen bases (+550), BetMGM

Francisco Lindor has only two stolen bases so far in 2023, but he had 16 stolen bases in 2022 and his 78th percentile sprint speed suggests that there are more stolen bases in his future, if only he is given the green light more often. In 2022, 12 of Lindor’s 16 stolen bases came against right-handed pitching. Tonight, he gets to face a duo of Ross Stripling and (likely) Joey Bart, who combine to form a slow battery when it comes to controlling the opponent’s running game. At significant plus money, this is a worthwhile risk for bettors.

MLB DFS Pick’em

Brandon Nimmo less than 1.5 total bases, PrizePicks

In 2022, Ross Stripling was extremely tough against left-handed batters, with a 2.69 FIP, 0.95 WHIP, and a .215 opponent batting average. Brandon Nimmo is a quality option at the top of the New York Mets lineup, but he walks at a high rate, and walks do not count towards a hitter’s total bases. Facing right-handed pitching last season, Nimmo’s 10.7% walk rate helped his OPS tremendously, but it did little to help him improve upon his .156 ISO. Nimmo likely needs two hits to get two total bases in this spot, which is not a probable outcome on Sunday Night Baseball.
