MLB Player Props Today

Masataka Yoshida u1.5 total bases (-140), DraftKings

From April 20 to May 7, Masataka Yoshida was the talk of baseball – posting a .438 batting average, 1.229 OPS, and striking out in only 8.5% of his plate appearances. However, we are starting to see some regression to the mean following his torrid hot streak, evident by his .200 batting average, .561 OPS, and 23.5% strikeout rate across his last four games. In baseball, it is difficult to sustain extreme variances in statistics, for better or worse, over a long duration of time. We are simply watching Yoshida’s numbers come down to earth. Take the under in this spot.

Paul Goldschmidt o1.5 total bases (-110), BetMGM

Since April 25, Paul Goldschmidt has been on a tear, with a .347 batting average and a 1.042 OPS across his last 77 plate appearances. Tonight, he gets another favorable matchup against Corey Kluber, who enters play on Sunday with a 6.29 ERA, 5.72 xERA, and a 6.38 FIP through his first seven turns in the rotation. Kluber has been particularly hittable against right-handed batters, allowing a .284 opponent batting average while generating only a 15.7% strikeout rate. Expect Goldschmidt to make quality contact tonight, with at least one of those batted balls going for extra bases. The over is an appealing look here.

MLB DFS Pick’em

Dylan Carlson less than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs, PrizePicks

Simply, not much has gone right for Dylan Carlson in 2023, which makes him fade-able even in what should theoretically be a favorable matchup for him. Through his first 31 games played, Carlson owns a .222 batting average and a career-worst .614 OPS, which has put his production level far worse than the league average to this point. The primary cause of Carlson’s struggles is tied to his increase in chasing bad pitches, with a 6.5% increase in swings on pitches outside of the strike zone in 2023 compared to 2022. Until this is corrected, it would be unwise to expect much production from him at the plate on a nightly basis.
