NBA Player Props, January 6, 2023

Jarrett Allen o25.5 points + rebounds (-105)

Per CourtIQ, when Donovan Mitchell is off of the floor this season, Jarrett Allen is averaging 23.0 points and 10.1 rebounds per 36 minutes of action. Tonight, Allen gets an extremely favorable matchup on the offensive end of the floor against a Denver Nuggets team that ranks 29th in opponent field goal percentage in the restricted area and 14th in opponent field goal percentage in the paint this season. Allen is averaging 8.8 field goal attempts during the first half of the campaign, 7.9 of which are coming in the restricted area or the paint – making him well-equipped to exploit Denver’s defensive vulnerabilities in this spot. The Nuggets are a strong rebounding team, but Allen is more than capable of doing enough to hit the over in this spot for bettors.

H3. Deandre Ayton o16.5 points (-118)

Devin Booker remains out this evening for the Phoenix Suns, which means there is once again value on Deandre Ayton in the player prop market. Though Ayton has failed to eclipse this number in three of his last four games, he is still averaging 22.5 points per 36 minutes of action with Booker on the sidelines this season. Tonight, Ayton has a favorable matchup against a Miami Heat defense that ranks 20th in opponent field goal percentage in the restricted area and 28th in opponent field goal percentage in the paint during the first half of the campaign. Ayton is averaging 12.6 field goal attempts per game this year, 9.8 of which are coming from the restricted area or the paint. Expect him to have a bounce-back performance on the offensive end of the floor on Friday.

Mason Plumlee o9.5 points (-130)

Per CourtIQ, Mason Plumlee is averaging 15.7 points per 36 minutes of action this season when both Gordon Hayward and “(player-popup #kelly-oubre)Kelly Oubre Jr are on the sidelines. Even without missing offensive contributors, this has been a number that Plumlee has routinely been clearing – scoring in double-figures in 13-of-18 games since December 1. The Milwaukee Bucks are a formidable defense around the rim, but Plumlee’s increased volume in the absence of Hayward and Oubre Jr. should be enough to get him to 10 points this evening. Take the over and live with the result.
