NBA Player Props – Heat vs. Celtics, May 19, 2023
- Malcolm Brogdon o15.5 points
- Jimmy Butler u6.5 rebounds
- Jimmy Butler less than 20.0 field goal attempts
Malcolm Brogdon o15.5 points (+100), DraftKings
In the series opener, Malcolm Brogdon was heavily involved in the action, scoring 19 points on 14 field goal attempts while playing 37 minutes. In his last 13 playoff games, Malcolm Brogdon has scored at least 14 points 10 times and has only one game with fewer than 12 points in that span. He continues to be undervalued by sportsbooks and the general public, much of which remains fixated on playing Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown props. Brogdon once has value for bettors on Friday night in Game 2 – take the over.
Jimmy Butler u6.5 rebounds (-124), FanDuel
In Game 1, Jimmy Butler collected five rebounds and had 10 rebound chances for the Miami Heat. In Game 2, it is possible that Butler has even fewer chances on the glass. Miami won in upset fashion on Wednesday night, but significant underdogs rarely find a way to steal both of the first two games of a series in opponent territory. As we have seen throughout the early rounds of these playoffs, Game 2 has a high probability of ending in a blowout. If the game script is non-competitive, it likely means that the Boston Celtics are making a lot of shots and that Butler sees a reduction in minutes – both of which will operate to reduce his chances on the boards. The under is a worthwhile stab for bettors here.
NBA DFS Pick’em
Jimmy Butler less than 20.0 field goal attempts, PrizePicks
In Game 5 against the New York Knicks, Jimmy Butler only attempted 12 shots from the field in a losing effort. In Game 2 of the first round against the Milwaukee Bucks, Butler took only 12 shots – a game in which the Heat lost by 16 points. Simply, Butler has seen far less volume from the floor during the postseason when Miami is trailing big in games. Anticipating a blowout win this evening for the Celtics, Butler is unlikely to take an abundance of shots in this one.
