NBA Player Props, February 13, 2023
- Klay Thompson o25.5 points
- Nic Claxton o9.5 rebounds
- Luka Doncic o6.5 assists
Klay Thompson o25.5 points (-110), BetMGM
Playing at home this season with Stephen Curry off of the floor, Klay Thompson has eclipsed this market number in five of seven contests, with only one game of fewer than 24 points. Per CourtIQ, Thompson is averaging 27.9 points per 36 minutes of action this year at home when Curry is not on the floor, in a sample size of 349 minutes. In Thompson’s most recent contest, he had only 15 points, but he attempted 21 field goals and 13 shots from beyond-the-arc. Tonight, he does not have the most favorable matchup, facing a Washington Wizards defense that ranks sixth in opponent three-point percentage across the last month. Still, it is difficult to pass on this spot, considering the massive volume that Thompson will have on Monday night in his home building.
Nic Claxton o9.5 rebounds (-130), PointsBet
Entering play, Nic Claxton has eclipsed this market number in 11 of his last 14 games overall, including seven of his last eight home games. In his most recent home contest, Claxton had only five actual rebounds, but he still had 17 rebound chances. Claxton has a tendency to struggle against bigger and more physical opponents, due to his low contested rebound percentage. This evening, he will not have to contend with an overly physical opponent, getting to face the New York Knicks with Mitchell Robinson on the sidelines. When Claxton played the Knicks without Robinson on January 28, he had 12 rebounds on 20 rebound chances. Expect him to be active on the boards tonight, and for him to have a great chance to cash the over in this spot if he can stay out of foul trouble.
Luka Doncic o6.5 assists (-140), DraftKings
In his first game action alongside Kyrie Irving, Luka Doncic had only five actual assists, but he still had 14 potential assists. On the season, Doncic has eclipsed this market number in 33 of 48 games played, including 17 of 27 games at home. Tonight, he gets a favorable matchup against a Minnesota Timberwolves defense that ranks 28th in opponent assists allowed per game on the road across the last 30 days of action. Even if Doncic is no longer the team’s primary facilitator, it would be surprising to see him fall short of this number in this spot. Do not bet the house, but take the over here.
