NBA Player Props, January 15, 2023
- Kyrie Irving o29.5 points
- Thomas Bryant o14.5 points
- Jakob Poeltl o11.5 points
Kyrie Irving o29.5 points (-115)
Per CourtIQ, Kyrie Irving is averaging 29.6 points per 36 minutes of action this season when Kevin Durant is on the sidelines. In such situations, Irving sees a 6.3% increase in usage. In Irving’s last five games with Durant on the sidelines, he has scored 24, 38, 29, 31, and 27 points – having never attempted fewer than 22 shots from the field in that span. Tonight, Irving gets a reasonably favorable matchup against an Oklahoma City Thunder team that ranks 13th in defensive efficiency and second in pace on the road this year. Expect a high-scoring game between these two teams, and for Irving to have enough volume to have a good opportunity to cash the over in this spot.
Thomas Bryant o14.5 points (-125)
Entering play, Thomas Bryant has scored 15 points or more in six of his last seven contests. In his most recent trip to the hardwood, Bryant was benched down the stretch and did not play at all in overtime against a Dallas Mavericks lineup that was causing matchup issues for the big man. In only 24 minutes of action, Bryant had a +/- of -17 points. Tonight, Bryant should have more playing time, facing a Philadelphia 76ers team that has Joel Embiid down low. Expect a bounce-back performance from Bryant on Sunday.
Jakob Poeltl o11.5 points (+100)
In each of his last three games, Jakob Poeltl has attempted nine or more shots from the field. In that span, he has scored 13, 17, and 8 points, respectively, with his lone miss coming on a night in which he went 2-for–9 from the field against a hyper-focused Golden State Warriors team. This evening, Poeltl will face a Sacramento Kings team that struggles mightily on the defensive end of the floor. Over the last month, the Kings rank 27th in the NBA in defensive efficiency across 14 games. On the season, Sacramento ranks 25th in opponent field goal percentage in the restricted area and 25th in opponent field goal percentage in the paint. This is a great matchup for Poeltl – trust him to take advantage.
