NBA Player Props, March 5, 2023

Cameron Johnson o17.5 points (-125), BetMGM

Since being acquired by the Brooklyn Nets, Cameron Johnson is averaging 19.1 points on 13.9 shot attempts per game. In his last two trips to the hardwood, Johnson has attempted 16 and 18 shot attempts, respectively, scoring a total of 53 points against the New York Knicks and Boston Celtics – two of the better defenses in the NBA. On Sunday, he gets a date with a Charlotte Hornets team that ranks 22nd in defensive efficiency across their last five road games and 18th in defensive efficiency on the road for the season. If Johnson has similar volume today as he has in recent weeks, he should have every opportunity to hit the over on this player prop.

Mikal Bridges o4.5 rebounds (-125), PointsBet

Entering play on Sunday, Mikal Bridges has eclipsed this market number in seven of his last nine contests, including six of eight games since being acquired by the Brooklyn Nets. In his last eight games, Bridges is averaging 9.0 rebound chances per game. In that span, he has at least nine rebound chances in five of eight contests, with only two games of fewer than seven rebound chances. Tonight, Bridges gets a favorable matchup against a Charlotte Hornets team that ranks 21st in rebound percentage and 23rd in opponent rebounds per game in two games since losing LaMelo Ball. Since February 1, Charlotte ranks 25th in rebound percentage and 26th in opponent rebounds per game. Expect Bridges to have ample opportunity on the glass in this spot – take the over.

DeMar DeRozan o4.5 assists (-145), DraftKings

According to props.cash, DeMar DeRozan has eclipsed this market number in 37 of 58 games played this season overall, including 23 of his last 30 contests, and 12 of his last 14 trips to the hardwood. In his last 14 games, DeRozan has been the team’s primary facilitator, averaging 9.1 potential assists per game. On Sunday, he gets a favorable matchup against the Indiana Pacers, a team which ranks 23rd in opponent assists allowed per game since the beginning of February. The math makes sense here. Take the over and live with the result.
