NBA Player Props, January 17, 2023
- Kyrie Irving o35.5 points + assists
- Nic Claxton o13.5 points
- Scottie Barnes o6.5 rebounds
Kyrie Irving o35.5 points + assists (-115)
In two games since Kevin Durant landed on the injury report with an MCL sprain, Kyrie Irving has attempted 44 shots and had 26 assist opportunities. Despite the high volume, the output has not been there for Irving, who is shooting only 36.3% from the floor and 22.2% from beyond-the-arc since Thursday. On Tuesday, there is reason to believe that Irving will be able to shake his recent inefficiency, facing a San Antonio Spurs team that ranks 30th in defensive efficiency, 30th in opponent field goal percentage, and 28th in opponent assists per game this season. After back-to-back underwhelming performances from Irving, he is still averaging 28.0 points and 5.2 assists per 36 minutes this year when Durant is off of the floor. In a dream matchup, trust him to do enough to hit the over on this prop.
Nic Claxton o13.5 points (-130)
Across his last 10 games, Nic Claxton has played 30 minutes or more nine times, with the lone exception being a 36 point victory for the Brooklyn Nets, in which he did not have to play much in the second half. In that span, Claxton has scored in double-figures in 9-of-10 trips to the floor and has only committed four fouls in one contest. Tonight, he draws an extremely favorable matchup against a San Antonio defense that struggles mightily to defend around the rim. On the season, the Spurs are allowing the most field goal attempts per game in the restricted area, and allowing opponents to shoot 66.3% on such shots.
Scottie Barnes o6.5 rebounds (-123)
In November, Scottie Barnes averaged 6.5 rebounds on 10.3 rebound chances per game. In December, Barnes averaged 7.7 rebounds and 11.7 rebound chances per game. During the first half of January, Barnes is averaging 7.7 rebounds on a team-leading 14.9 rebound chances per game. According to props.cash, Barnes has eclipsed this number in 8-of-12 games entering play. He is a strong option for bettors again this evening, even in a tough matchup against a good rebounding Milwaukee Bucks team.
