NBA Player Props, March 21, 2023

James Wiseman o25.5 points + rebounds (-110), BetMGM

Entering play, James Wiseman has eclipsed this market number in four of his last seven trips to the hardwood. In his three misses, he has never had fewer than 22 combined points plus rebounds. Tonight, Wiseman gets a favorable matchup against an Atlanta Hawks team that ranks 27th in defensive efficiency and third in pace across the last month of action. In that span, the Hawks rank 28th in opponent field goal attempts allowed in the restricted area and 26th in opponent field goal percentage in the paint. Since joining the Detroit Pistons, Wiseman is averaging 10.9 shot attempts per game, 9.0 of which are coming in the paint or the restricted area. Expect Wiseman to be efficient on the offensive end of the floor tonight. On the glass, Wiseman has collected at least nine rebounds in 10 of his last 13 games. Even in a tough matchup this evening, he has a safe floor in this department, considering the fact that he is averaging 16.2 rebound chances across his last 13 games played. Trust Wiseman in this spot – take the over on his points plus rebounds.

Trey Murphy 15+ points (-135), FanDuel

Trey Murphy has failed us two games in a row, but we are running it back one more time before completely losing faith in him. On Friday, he scored 13 points on an inefficient 4-for-11 shooting performance. On Sunday, he scored 14 points on an inefficient 5-for-13 shooting performance. Tonight, he gets another extremely favorable matchup against the San Antonio Spurs, which rank 20th in defensive efficiency, 17th in opponent field goal percentage, and 19th in opponent three-point percentage since February 21. According to props.cash, Murphy has scored at least 15 points in 15 of 18 games this season in which he has played at least 35 minutes, and 19 of 30 games in which he has played at least 30 minutes. Expect him to have a better shooting night on Tuesday, which should lead to an over on his points prop.

Donovan Mitchell o26.5 points (-115), BetMGM

During the month of March, Donovan Mitchell is averaging 28.5 points on a season-high 23.3 shot attempts per game. Still, he has only eclipsed this market number in three of eight trips to the hardwood. Tonight, he has a good chance to make it four of nine against a Brooklyn Nets defense that has struggled mightily to defend the perimeter as of late. Across the last month, the Nets rank 21st in opponent three-point percentage. Tonight, Brooklyn could also be down one of their better defensive players, Dorian Finney-Smith, who is listed as questionable on the official injury report. Playing on three days of rest this season, Mitchell has scored 30 points or more twice. Though it is a small sample size, the numbers further support a play on the over in this spot.
