Big Events Breakdown: The Latest from the DFBC, DSBC and More!
Starting this week, RotoGrinders will be breaking down all the happenings from the biggest events and games across the daily fantasy landscape. While some people use the summer to lay on the beach, take a vacation, or just plain relax, daily fantasy players are busy grinding away. The same can be said for the daily fantasy websites out there. There are so many awesome events and promotions going on throughout the MLB summer, and now RotoGrinders is here to break down the winners and how they got there each and every week. Right now, we have a focus on the DFBC with 3 seats remaining, the DSBC with 12 spots open still, the huge DraftKings RG Freeroll and $5K clash, and the All-Star Joust last week where one player was able to take 2 tickets to the MLB All-Star Game!

DFBC Qualifier June 29th
12.75 fantasy points separated the first and second place finishers in Friday night’s 1800 person DFBC championship. The next qualifier headed to Vegas after the dust settled on Friday is Nucor401 who posted a final score of 98.75 points. There was no clear cut stacking strategy from Nucor401 but he definitely hit the jackpot at almost every position. Ian Kennedy posted 18 points at the SP-spot but it was 16.75 points from Aaron Hill, 15.75 points from Andrew McCutchen and the nearly 14 points from Alexei Ramirez that carried Nucor401 to victory. His entire roster was good enough to escape 2nd place finisher Mcdanos who pulled together 86.5 points. Mcdanos got the same 18 points out of his starter, but that was Matt Harrison. Paul Goldschmidt, Aaron Hill and Andrew McCutchen were also on his roster but at the end of the day, a weak output from the popular pick, JJ Hardy, help Mcdanos from making a real push at 1st place. Sometimes that’s just how the cookie crumbles, Ron Burgundy.
DSBC Weekly Winners: Beastin and Jackandsoda
Beastin and Jackandsoda are the last two winners of qualifying seats to the DSBC final event. Jackandsoda won the Friday night, $55-100 man qualifying event with a score of 110.4. Beastin took home the 400-man $11 qualifier on Tuesday evening with a final score of 105.6. Beastin beasted his way over the 100 point line. He blew away the competition and won the qualifier event by almost 7 points! Beastin took a chance and stacked the Washington lineup to its fullest in the scoring-friendly Coors Field and it paid off. A ridiculous 16.25 points from Adam LaRoche, who was drafted by only 4% of users, ended up being the difference maker to victory. While his pitching staff struggled a bit, and only put up around 20 fantasy points, his hitting was unreal and tallied 84.75 of his 105.6 points. He held off Drew128 who also had stacked the Nats but was held down by the poor performance given by Ryan Braun.
Friday night’s qualifier was not only one by one of our popular Grinders, Jackandsoda, it was dominated by Jackandsoda. He comes away with a final score of 110.4, which was 13.6 points higher than any other player in the tournament. But anyone who payed attention to the baseball world knows exactly how Jackandsoda could have possibly pulled off this margin of victory…THE WHITE SOX. They absolutely crushed the ball against Adam Warren and the helpless Yankees and Jackandsoda had them stacked. 17 points from Alexei Ramirez, 16.5 points from A.J. Pierzynski and almost another 10 from Paul Konerko anchored his squad. As if that wasn’t enough, he also hit it right with Adam Lind and picked up another 17 points there. Second place went to Toark who half stacked the Mets and Diamondbacks, both good plays for the evening and wound up with a final score of 96.8. Most nights that would be more than enough to take down the 100-man $55 qualifier, but not when the White Sox stack hangs over 100 fantasy points. Congrats, Jackandsoda.

It’s also worth noting that our very own Cal came in 16th in the Tuesday event! He was in the running for a victory but Colby Rasmus, and Garrett Jones were unable to come through in the clutch to propel him up the board.
All-Star Joust Winner: Landsharks
It was landsharks last Friday night who was able to take home the All-Star Joust contest over at DJ with a final score of 77 points. He tied Chainsaul a top the board at the end of the night, but won the tie-breaker and took home the winner-take-all prize of 2 tickets to the All-Star game and $1500. The gutsy play of Ubaldo Jimenez shouldered most of landsharks scoring, as Jimenez tossed a gem and put up 27 points on DJ. Adrian Beltre and Jason Kubel also had double-digit performances to help carry landsharks to a tie a top the leaderboard. In a night where one walk, base-hit, strike out or RBI made the difference, it seemed as if the (-1) from Jason Kipnis could stop landsharks from topping the leaderboard. The runner-up, Chainsaul, used the St. Louis stack that many players successfully used on Friday night to post his 77 point total. Freese, Beltran and Molina all put up double-digit performances. When it came down to the end though, it was the pitching that held Chainsaul back a bit. The 13 points from Tim Lincecum was nothing when compared to Ubaldo Jimenez who nearly doubled that total. Regardless, both Chainsaul and Landsharks stood tied atop the leaderboard at the end of the night and Landsharks was able to duke it out in the tiebreaker for victory. Congrats and enjoy your trip to the MLB All-Star game!
DraftKings RG Freeroll and $5K Clash Winners
Jgleas2 won the $5K Clash and took home $1000 and Putz took home $200 for coming in first in the exclusive $1K RG and DraftKings freeroll! For the $5K clash Jgleas2 put up an incredible 183 points thanks to the big nights of Paul Goldschmidt and Aaron Hill. He also got some love from a deep sleeper, John Hester. Some more consistent efforts from Will Middlebrooks, R.A. Dickey and Willie Bloomquist pushed Jgleas2 over the top to victory. He was able to edge out second place finisher Seeeeb by 10 points, who got huge games out of Matt Wieters, Andrew McCutchen and Michael Morse. Kyle Seager was unable to take advantage of a good match up against Aaron Cook in the late games for Seeeeb though, and the Will Middlebrooks home-run pushed Jgleas2 to the top.

In the exclusive RotoGrinders freeroll, the same score of 183 was enough to take home the $200 first place prize. One consistency amongst the top players was another big night from R.A. Dickey, who Putz used as his SP. But it was the 2-HR night of A.J. Pierzynski along with big games from Goldschmidt, Hill and Carlos Gonzalez that separated Putz from the pack. Jdionne22 came in second, just barely behind Putz, with a score of 181 thanks to a consistent effort across all of his players. Only 13 fantasy points, less than one home run on DraftKings, separated the #1 finisher in the freeroll from the 10th placed finisher. Only 40 points separated 1st place from the last player in the money(39 places paid.)
