Browns vs. Texans NFL Player Props – Wild Card Round
- Joe Flacco OVER 37.5 Pass Attempts
- Kareem Hunt UNDER 25.5 Rushing Yards
- Devin Singletary OVER 16.5 Rushing Yards – Longest Rush
Joe Flacco OVER 37.5 Pass Attempts (-108), FanDuel
In five starts for the Cleveland Browns this season, Joe Flacco has four games with at least 42 pass attempts. The lone outlier in that stretch was a game against the New York Jets in which the Browns had 34 points at the half. Assuming there are no surprise inactives from the Houston Texans ahead of kickoff, Flacco appears poised for another heavy workload.
Since CB Tavierre Thomas last played in Week 12, the Texans’ defense ranks 13th in success rate against the pass compared to 1st in success rate against the run. The pathway to victory for Cleveland is through the air, which is no different than any other game that Flacco has played this year. The bonus here is that Flacco will unquestionably be slinging the rock late in this game if the Browns find themselves trailing, making this a play that is immune to multiple different game scripts.
Kareem Hunt UNDER 25.5 Rushing Yards (-110), bet365
Kareem Hunt has gone over this market number in 3 of 5 games with Joe Flacco under center for the Browns this season, but he still finished with 31 rushing yards or fewer in two of those overs. On Saturday, Hunt will be the second option for the Browns on the ground against a Texans defense that is unlikely to give Cleveland much room to run. Prior to Jonathan Taylor exploding for 188 rushing yards in Week 18, the Texans had not allowed more than 46 rushing yards to an individual player since November 26. There is unlikely to be a lot of reps for Hunt in this game on the ground, making this a worthwhile risk against one of the better run defenses in the NFL.
Devin Singletary OVER 16.5 Rushing Yards – Longest Rush (-114), FanDuel
From Week 13 to Week 17, with Joe Flacco managing the offense, the Browns defense was 3rd in success rate against the pass and 7th in success rate against the run. Though Cleveland’s defense continues to be strong on a per-play basis, they showed themselves vulnerable to chunk plays against the run down the stretch. They allowed an 18-yard run to Kyren Williams and a 34-yard run to Puka Nacua in Week 13. Travis Etienne had a 16-yard run against the Browns the following week. Roschon Johnson had a 22-yard run in Week 15, followed by a 17-yard run from Devin Singletary in Week 16, and then a 25-yard run for Breece Hall in Week 17. Singletary had a run of at least 17 yards in 6 of his final 9 games during the regular season. He has a good chance to get loose at least once in this spot against the Browns.
