Top DFS Picks and Fantasy Pick’em Plays for Week 5
Caleb Williams: Caleb Williams is going to project as far and away the top quarterback this week. The Colorado defense has offered little resistance so far this year, and Oregon put up six touchdowns in the first half last week. USC will almost assuredly push for 50+ points in this game, and really the only thing that could derail Williams here is an injury or another massive blowout. Hopefully, Colorado can score enough points to keep this game semi-competitive. If that happens, Williams is a virtual lock as the top quarterback choice of the weekend. Through the first four games of the year, Williams has 15 passing touchdowns, three rushing touchdowns, and no interceptions. Insane.
Ashton Jeanty: The Boise State running back looks to be one of the rising stars in college football this season. If we remove the blowout loss to Washington in the season opener, where Boise had to abandon the run in the second half, Jeanty has had three very strong games in a row. He ran for 115 yards in the second game of the year, he scored three touchdowns in the third game, and he exploded for a 23/205/2 line a week ago. That will do. He should continue to thrive here in a strong matchup against Memphis.
Jimmy Horn Jr.: Production is going to be available for the Colorado passing game all year when you factor in their terrible defense and their fast pace of play. We also have injury concerns here. Travis Hunter is going to be out again this week, and we are still awaiting clarity on the status of Xavier Weaver after he left last week’s game early. With both Hunter and Weaver nursing injuries, expect Horn to move into the WR1 role for the team this weekend. If ownership is down because of his poor game last week, that makes me even more interested in GPP formats.
