Cowboys vs. Giants Same Game Parlay Preview
On DraftKings Sportsbook, as of this writing, the Dallas Cowboys are 6-point road favorites.
ScoresAndOdds reports a landslide of betting handle and tickets siding with Dallas, with both numbers north of 80% throughout the week. After opening, the betting spread dipped to -4.5 but has steadily moved toward Dallas.
The implied game total is 45 points with tickets and money again in agreement. More than 60% of both handle and bets are riding the over this evening. As such, the game total has crept up a full point since opening. The Cowboys have struggled to stop the run, and the Giants have struggled to stop the pass. This should fit with what both teams want to do on offense.
Buckle up! The injury report is important this evening as both teams might be without key players in the secondary. The Giants will not have Dru Phillips or Adoree’ Jackson — leaving a big hole in an already underwhelming secondary. The Cowboys’ Caelen Carson and Markquese Bell are questionable — forcing players to rotate in. The Giants rank 14th in defensive yards per pass attempt. The loss of players will likely make the Giants vulnerable to an aggressive Dallas passing offense.
The Cowboys are not presenting themselves as the formidable offense we watched throughout the 2023 season. The Cowboys finished the regular season as the top-ranked scoring offense. After 3 weeks, the Cowboys are 7th, but their statistical metrics are far wider. Dak and company ranked 7th in yards per pass attempt last season and rank 23rd thus far in 2024. The last 2 games got away from Dallas very early, and defenses were able to focus on stopping the pass throughout the entire second half.
CeeDee Lamb hasn’t taken off yet after emerging as one of the best receivers in the NFL in 2023. Lamb has not exceeded five catches in 2024. He hasn’t played much in the 4th quarter since games were out of reach. He only has one touchdown. The battered Giants secondary seems like a great foil for the Cowboys to focus on getting their star the football.
Otherwise, we might see a bit more Rico Dowdle in a better matchup for the Giants. The Cowboys have struggled to run the ball and rank last in the league at slowing down running back. This week, the Giants defense will not offer the same resistance as the Browns, Saints (with a huge lead) or the Ravens (with a huge lead). Dowdle saw 8, 7, and 8 attempts in his first 3 games while Ezekiel Elliott saw 10, 6, and then 3 in Week 3. Elliott is being phased out while Dowdle is steady.
The Giants outlasted the Browns in Week 3 for their first victory after losing to the Vikings and the Commanders. The Giants defense ranks pretty average after finishing 26th last season in scoring defense. The Giants rank 27th in yards per rush attempt (Dowdle) but second in sack percentage. New York eviscerated Deshaun Watson last weekend and will need to put pressure on Dak Prescott to mitigate the impact of a beleaguered secondary.
The Giants might look to run the football early and often on Thursday night. The Cowboys rank dead last in yards per rush attempt in 2024 and were merely average in 2023. Alvin Kamara and Derrick Henry had a field day with this defense. While Devin Singletary is not in the same class, the combination of the veteran back and the athletic Daniel Jones should look to take advantage of running room. Daniel Jones has two strong performances against the Cowboys over the last couple of home matchups with 43 and 79 rushing yards. We might want to take a look at his rushing prop.
Tonight’s same game parlay will focus on the weakness of both teams in the first few weeks. Let’s start building this week’s one game parlay for Thursday Night Football.
Same Game Parlay Picks for Cowboys vs. Giants
- CeeDee Lamb Over 81.5 Receiving Yards
- Devin Singletary Over 59.5 Rushing Yards
- Rico Dowdle Over 35.5 Rushing Yards
CeeDee Lamb Over 81.5 Receiving Yards
With a weakened secondary, this is my prop of the night. I love Lamb’s receptions over 6.5, but I will most certainly bet a ladder on receiving yards for Lamb. I would have been interested in his receiving number without the injuries. Who is going to cover him?
Also, Dallas needs to get back on track. Without a steady running back to assume the entire workload, I will assume that Dak Prescott is looking to his top guy throughout the game. This has all the makings of 10 catches and 100+ yards.
I will be heavily invested in Lamb’s performance. We open our parlay with him as our main piece.
Devin Singletary Over 59.5 Rushing Yards
Next, I mentioned looking to attack the vulnerabilities these teams showed over the first few weeks. Well, nothing has looked more vulnerable than the Dallas rushing defense. Alvin Kamara and Derrick Henry torched the Cowboys for huge games. Do I expect Devin Singletary to lead the league in rushing this week? No.
Do I expect him to after 4.0 yards per carry with 15+ touches? Yes. Singletary should see the same volume on Thursday night that he has seen over the past 2 weeks. With 16 or 17 rushing attempts, Singletary should get there versus the gaping holes in the Cowboys defensive front.
Rico Dowdle Over 35.5 Rushing Yards
Finally, we look forward to the Cowboys being in a neutral or positive game script (hopefully because CeeDee Lamb is having a great game). If that is the case, I think Rico Dowdle will finally assume the role as the main running back in the Dallas offense.
Dowdle’s workload has been steady throughout the first 3 weeks of the season, along with his passing volume in their two losses. As Elliott continues to see limited touches, I anticipate Dowdle will break double-digit carries when Dallas is working the clock.
While the Dallas passing offense is explosive, Dak Prescott can’t be expected to throw the football all game. The Cowboys need another dimension. Dowdle will present that dimension.
Cowboys vs. Giants Parlay Odds
- CeeDee Lamb Over 81.5 Receiving Yards
- Devin Singletary Over 59.5 Rushing Yards
- Rico Dowdle Over 35.5 Rushing Yards
