DFS Tournament Report: August 2nd

Any time there is a $5,300 buy-in event in DFS, it’s a sure thing that the biggest names in the industry are going to take part, and with five seats up for grabs in the DraftKings $4 Million FBWC Mega Qualifier, that is precisely what happened last night. The tournament saw one of RotoGrinders own grab a seat, another player win his third seat in less than a week, and the current top ranked player in DFS taking down a seat as well. Find out how the big tournament went down as well as the other big winners of the day:

DraftKings $4 Million FBWC Mega Qualifier ($5,300 entry)

A total of 60 entrants at $5,300 per entry took part in what was the biggest tournament of the night. Among those in the field were industry notables such as DandyDon and ganondorf, and a staggering 10 players ranked inside the top 100 of RotoGrinders Tournament Player of the Year race. Those 10 and their rankings were as follows:

maxdalury #2
ehafner #4
TwoGun #13
SamENole #18
CSURAM88 #25
00oreo00 #26
shanksalot #63
MakeItRain84 #65
Rotomania #68
ezellmt #96

After the first hour it was ehafner, with a Boston stack and Jose Fernandez, who held the top spot. He was followed closely by tinderella and ganondorf. Those three would continue to hold the top spot an hour later but the leader board was getting more bunched up and names like bquicksix and Rotomania found themselves in the top five and in position for a seat. Others lurking in the top 10 included BrandonAdams and CSURAM88.

MDMDHAMD would move into the lead with a Cubs stack and Jose Fernandez but he was facing an uphill battle as most of his players had completed their games. Duncanonu sat in second with tinderella, ehafner, and Rotomania rounding out the top five. Maxdalury made his first appearance on the leaderboard, as did RotoGrinders contributor ezellmt.

With play winding down, here is how the top five looked with just a couple players having Noah Syndergaard left in the Sunday Night game.

1. Rotomania 127.55
2. maxdalury 123.25
3. tinderella 121.85
4. Rotomania 119.55
5. dacubbies2430 117.2

Dacubbies2430 had Yoenis Cespedes left and the two players with Syndergaard left that had a chance to crack the top five were tinderella with 108.9 points and ezellmt with 92.9 points. Tinderella already had one seat locked up but a not so great performance from Syndergaard would give him a second seat. ezellmt needed a much better game – 24.4 points to be precise – to sneak into the top five.

Syndergaard would have a shaky start, giving up a run in the first inning, but he would settle down and pitch the kind of game you would expect from the young Mets phenom. With three innings left, ezellmt sat with 111.4 points and was 10.45 points out of fifth place. He needed a couple strong innings and the win in order to snag the seat and that is precisely what he would get as Syndergaard would finish the game with 31.8 fpts. Dacubbies2430 would get five points from Cespedes which was just enough to edge out Tinderella’s non-Syndergaard team for the fifth and final seat.

Tinderella would get $10,000 for that sixth place finish with BrandonAdams getting most of his buy-in back with a $5,000 payout for his seventh place performance. Here are the top five and their winning lineups:

1. tinderella 140.7, $55,500 package to $4 Million FBWC
