DFS Tournament Report: July 31st
Friday night is always a fun night in DFS and there was a big $500,000 GPP and two live qualifiers that went down to give grinders a sweat. Rotomania, the #69 ranked player in the RotoGrinders TPOY race, would win his second seat of the week on DraftKings edging out another player looking for his second as well, dandydon. Find out how that tournament went down as well as all the other highlights:
DraftKings $4 Million FBWC Qualifier ($100 entry)
Early on, thanks to a Phillies stack, LSPhila would jump into the lead over oldbonebags and an Orioles stack. Those two would continue to sit at or near the top of the leader board an hour later but some familiar faces were making their presence known including randlan (#21 in RG TPOY rankings) in 2nd, bcalicore in 4th, and TwoGun (#13 in RG TPOY rankings) in 5th. Bcalicore, with a helping hand from a huge game by Mark Teixeira and a Yankees stack would move into the lead a little bit later. With play winding down, he continued to hold the lead with the appropriately named Bubbleboy (#167 in RG TPOY rankings) sitting in 2nd but two big names, Rotomania and dandydon, lurking in 3rd and 4th. Those two would move to the top on the basis of strong outings from their starting pitchers, Zack Greinke and Michael Wacha, who both topped 30 fpts. Both also had Yankees stacks and only differed on their rosters by three players. Rotomania’s Wieters/Wang/Ryan trio scored 38 points to dandydon’s Murphy/Forsythe/Kang’s 35 points and that was the difference. Rotomania took down his second $4 Million FBWC seat in just three days!

DraftKings $500K Mega Perfect Game
Jewishjewscooped jumped out to the early lead over TwoGun but that lead would be short lived and it would be Mordo711 and stolitonic who would trade places atop the leader board over the next hour or two. Stolitonic would take the top spot with his mini-Yankees stack that included Teixeira and excellent outings from Jung-Ho Kang and Adam Jones. He would fend off challenges from the likes of bcalicore, kypark01 (#230 in RG TPOY race), and theclone (#2 in RG TPOY race) but ultimately would emerge victorious. The aforementioned Rotomania and dandydon would both enter their qualifier teams in this tournament and pulled off 3rd and 6th place finishes with those lineups.

FanDuel $4 Million WFBC Qualifier ($500 Entry)
The DFS legend known as maxdalury (currently #1 in RG TPOY race and #1 in MLB and overall rankings) would start out the first hour with two lineups sitting on top of the standings with the always seems-to-be-there mbomb44 (#27 in RG TPOY race) sitting in third. The next hour would see some movement in the standings with zzzimsleeping (#70 in RG TPOY race) taking the top spot, Comox_Warrior moving into third, and maxdalury holding the 4th-6th place teams. Mbomb44 would sneak ahead of zzzimsleeping an hour later with a new player, ssmith_8 (#934 in RG TPOY race), moving into third place. The latter would take the top spot soon after with a strong lineup that included Teixeira, Rodriguez, Kang, and Wacha. He would cruise to victory, winning the seat by more than 7 points over his nearest competitor, braskey.
For those that don’t know, braskey is none other than Cal Spears, the CEO and co-founder of RotoGrinders. Spears took a different approach than other top scores of the night, going with a Cardinals stack coupled with Adam Jones, Marlon Byrd, and Zack Greinke. While Spears didn’t take down the coveted seat, he didn’t leave empty handed, as he collected $6,000 for his second place finish.
