EHafner's Lineup Walkthrough: NFL Week 6

Column Description: Each week EHafner will be breaking down the players he used for his actual lineup (for NFL Thursdays). In addition he’ll be breaking down other picks he considered using that week. This will allow you to follow along with his picks as Sunday’s games unfold, and get in the mind of one of Daily Fantasy’s best! He’ll be rotating the site and game-type each week in his column in order to cover both Head-to-Heads and GPPs across all of the major sites! Here are EHafner’s picks for this week on DraftStreet Head-to-Heads, let him know you’re rooting along with him in the comments below!

Quarterback

russell-wilson-300x200

Russell Wilson – Went with Russell Wilson again this week. I love taking Seahawks at home, especially when they’re matched up against backup quarterbacks. I’m a Chiefs fan, so I watched a lot of “Ryan Fitzpatrick(player-profile)”:/players/Ryan_Fitzpatrick-11626’s snaps last week, and he was pretty bad. I expect lots of good field position and opportunities for the Seahawks offense this week.

Tom Brady – This pick doesn’t look as good as it did Thursday afternoon. When I made it I was optimistic that Gronk would be playing this week. There are still other elements of the pick I like: Amendola’s getting healthier, they’re up against a high powered offense that could force Brady to throw, and they’re in Foxboro.

Other QBs I liked this week

Chad Henne – I’m sure a lot of us thought about “Chad Henne(player-profile)”:/players/Chad_Henne-11619’s potential for garbage time production this week. He’s priced below 9k and should be throwing the ball a ton.

Aaron Rodgers – Baltimore’s shown to do very well against the run this year. Rodgers at 15.4k seemed like decent value if I had the extra salary to dump this week.

Running Back

Matt Forte – The first of my 4 stud RBs this week. Probably a bad pick in retrospect. I should’ve anticipated the big game from Brandon Marshall after he spoke out to the media about his lack of touches.

DeMarco Murray – Another stud RB with a good matchup this week. The Redskins are among the worst teams in the league against RBs so far this year. I’m expecting a huge bounce back game for Murray this week.

Marshawn Lynch – I recognize the inverse relationship between Lynch and Wilson could limit my GPP upside, but I felt the value on both players was too good to pass up. I think the Seahawks put up a rout similar to some of the ones we saw last year.

Doug Martin – One of my favorite defenses to target is the Eagles. Doug Martin is a talented back who gets plenty of touches, and he’s a bargain at 11k this week. Since Vick is injured, Tampa actually has a good shot at being ahead in this one, and Schiano isn’t afraid to give Doug 25+ carries in a game.

Other RBs I liked

Jamaal Charles – Jamaal’s the #1 RB in fantasy so far this year and he’s got a good matchup at home vs. Oakland this week. I think he’s in for a big week, but the extra 3k-5k I’d have to spend for him didn’t seem worth it. It was close though.

Pierre Thomas – With Vince Wilfork out for the year, Pierre Thomas made for an intriguing value pick this week at RB. The Patriots should be a lot weaker vs. runs between the tackles now and the Saints also use Pierre heavily in their screen game. Ultimately I went with a different cheap Saint with upside.

Wide Receiver

Marques Colston – Bill Belichick has a reputation as a defensive coach who takes away what the opposing team does best. Well in a matchup against the Saints, that’s without a doubt passes to Jimmy Graham. I’m speculating that Belichick may move 6’1” Talib over to the inside to shadow Graham a bit this week, and free up Colston for the big plays in the passing game.

DeAndre Hopkins – The Texans were interesting this week. Owen Daniels is out, the QB is on a major hot seat, and Andre Johnson is banged up and it sounded like he might sit out. Hopkins at 5.5k this week was a great price for a player who might be Schaub’s best option this week.

Other WRs I liked

Danny Amendola – I ultimately chickened out on picking Danny Amendola on Thursday. I love his upside in the Patriots system, but I couldn’t find enough good information on his health in time to pick him.

Calvin Johnson – Can’t wait to play Calvin at like 8k next week.

Greg Jennings – I consider Cassel to be an upgrade over Ponder from Greg’s perspective. Cassel is strictly a drop-back passer and Jennings is their most talented WR.

Tight End

Garrett Graham – I think Garrett will fill in nicely for Owen Daniels these next few weeks. He’s shown to be a capable red zone target, and with Andre banged up, he could see plenty of targets this week in a home matchup with the Rams.

Other TEs I liked

Antonio Gates – Could be in for a career year in the new offense and a seemingly healthier foot. Home game vs. Indy has shootout potential written all over it.

DST

Chiefs – There were lots of good choices at DST this week in my opinion. The Chiefs have one of the best defenses in the league and they’re at home vs. what’s essentially a rookie QB.

Other DST I liked

Seahawks – Very similar to the Chiefs in that they both have elite defenses and both have elite home field advantages. They’re ranked 1 and 2 in a metric I liked to look at: DVOA on footballoutsiders.com
