Find Your Edge: Week 15 - Attacking the Saturday Slate

Director of Data and Analytics, Kevin Cole, returns with a look at how past DFS slates can yield valuable insights to roster construction, decision making, and winning strategies for the coming slate of games. This is a big deal. We’ve collected a massive amount of data on past DFS slates, and Kevin is going to help you “find the edge” buried deep within them.

Week 15

We’re going to bring together some past analyses on stacking and chalk usage but focus specifically on one of the more unique slates of the year: the two-game Saturday slate.

Two-game slates aren’t that unusual with Mon-Thurs slates still out there. But the traditional two-slate has lost some luster with single-game Showdown contests available for MNF and TNF. The Saturday slate should attract more activity as a natural addition for NFL DFS players to the Sunday main slate.

What we’re doing here is similar to an analysis on three-game Thanksgiving slates and main slates where we dig into which stacks were most commonly used and gave winners (top 0.1% of lineups). We found a number of high leverage stacks that were employed more often by contest winners.

We also looked into the success rate of chalk players at different positions, and found that RB, DST and QB chalk (top-3 ownership at the position) actually were positive EV for winners.
