Million Dollar Musings: Wednesday, April 24th

Is your lineup Premium Approved? In this space, CheeseIsGood, STLCardinals84, or fathalpert will break down the slate from top-to-bottom like no one else in the industry can – exploring the matchups from every angle, steering you toward the best plays on the day, and helping you become a better and more complete DFS player as you continually expose yourself to the “process” and the “why,” rather than just looking at the “what.” Have a boat? We’ll teach you how to fish.

Wednesday, April 24th

Happy Wednesday! We’ve got a split slate day, where the sites have things mixed up differently as well. I’m going to mostly just focus on the main seven game slate tonight. With FD running only a three-game early slate, I’m skipping that one, but I will give a quick overview of the seven-game early slate on DK. If you’re playing the FD early or the all-day on Yahoo, those games are a part of the DK slate, so you can look at my thoughts there.

Early Slate Pitching

Three Up Top
Blake Snell vs Royals
German Marquez vs Nationals
Chris Paddack vs Mariners

Digging into Pineda’s struggles: According to Fangraphs, he’s gone away from the cutter and is throwing almost all four-seamers (as far as fastballs are concerned) with below average spin rate and a drop in velocity (reducing the speed differential between his fastball and changeup). Pre-injury his slider was his best pitch, but is currently his worst. So Cliff Notes: he’s getting hit harder and in the air relative to pre-injury. Twins play at Miami July 30-August 1. Maybe he’ll be right by then.

The everyday jokes along with the great insight that is put into this is why I read the whole article everyday. Would hate to miss out on all the good stuff in between. How are you leaning on the Crain or Dean exposure?

If the answer is ‘No”‘don’t feel bad. Just say ‘No’.

Sabbathia is in the lower half of the Salaries tonight. My favorite punster, scratch that, pundit, says “I’m not going any deeper than Mike Trout for the Angels.” Now”!, ( I make a Perry Mason sudden 180 degree turn toward you now and bend my head down ( i am 7 1/2 ft tall)), “doesn’t that bring into question that aside from your ageist ‘opinion” that the pitcher in question when coupled with a pitcher favoring Umpire like Chris Guccione , and I quote you here, Mr. Cheese, is considered ‘nonsense”, doesn’t that at least imply to you that Sabbathia might actually provide some DK salary relief sufficient in order to find some muscled up youngster?! That’s right, youth and muscle/ $$ saved ((my own stat)(c)) before the pitcher in question even takes the mound. Does that possibility of a smack on the juice ball over yonder fence not interest you at all? Or has big baseball come down on you for your conspiracy theory article of recent days. Tell us, Mr. Cheese which shall it be!? I rest my case.

    P.S.
Have you tried English Cheddar? A+

You have a lot of good words in here!! My problem with Sabathia is that he just isn’t going to throw many innings or get many strikeouts. There is no ceiling at all. And if going for no ceiling, I’d rather just go cheaper, and I prefer Lyles and Kelly in the same price range.
If building enough lineups, eventually he’d reach the list, but he’s not in my plans tonight at all personally.

    OK. Never mind. :)
