MLB $400K Super Slurve Review: Tuesday, June 20th
The Grinder review series will provide the reader with a breakdown of the exposures of “top of the leaderboard” players, the top single-entry lineup, and a comparison between all single entry lineups and professionals for large slate and massive prize pool GPPs.
Today we looked at the $400K Super Slurve [$100K to 1st!] on DraftKings with a buy-in of $4.
Multi-Entry Grinders of the Game
Although BrandonAdams didn’t hit it out of the park with his 246 lineups (top finish of #238) and Astros-heavy ownership, he rode his contrarian stack to a 67.5% cash rate. His 2nd-level stacks of DET helped him land his top finishes, but he was capped by a heavy ownership in Drew Smyly (with Steven Wright producing a middle of the road line).
Anchoring the bulk of his lineups with a once in a generation arm (Clayton Kershaw), headchopper stacked multiple teams (DET, BAL, BOS, MIA, TB) en-route to a 6th place finish with 2 more within the top 30 (albeit a lower cash rate of 45.7% versus BrandonAdams). The key to his success was absolutely smashing ownership percentages versus the field in Justin Upton, Marcell Ozuna, and Miguel Cabrera. He did whiff on a few others (Mark Trumbo, Carlos Gonzalez, etc.), but the overwhelming success of the others carried him on a majority of his 140 lineups.
Single-Entry Winner of the Game
Nascarphenom managed a 2nd place finish without overwhelming stacking any bats (3 Tigers, but no others on the same team). He proved that you don’t need your whole lineup to be made up of volatile pitchers or bats in your lineup to necessarily go deep with Doug Fister offering one of the lowest K/9 rates in the league. We’ll see if he becomes an MLB phenom after this win as his self-proclaimed status in NASCAR.
