MLB $750K Triple Play Review: Tuesday, May 31st

The Grinder review series will provide the reader with a breakdown of the exposures of “top of the leaderboard” players, the top single-entry lineup, and a comparison between all single entry lineups and professionals for large slate and massive prize pool GPPs.

Today we looked at the MLB $750K Triple Play [$150K to 1st] on DraftKings with a buy-in of $333.

Multi-Entry Grinders of the Game

While Assani didn’t stack a majority of Colorado like the other two players in this article, he managed a 3rd place finish on 50 entries while diversifying his player exposure. His 30% cash rate was moderately low, but had position to capitalize on multiple other games if things went another way. This methodology is in quite contrast to the next player on the list.

SaahilSud, known for taking balls-to-the-wall calculated risks, maxed 100 entries with over 88% exposure in 6 different players (5 of which were from COL). As the Rockies absolutely routed the Reds 17-4, Saahil no doubt did very well. How well you may ask? Out of 100 lineups, he only had 1 that did not cash (99% cash rate). He finished with 5 of the top 13 finishes and 20 within the top 50. Even so, he missed out on a top 6 finish and must have been wondering what could have been (after he finds his way out of the pile of cash).

Youdacao also stacked COL heavily, but also took significant pieces of other players who simply did not fare as well, capping his total upside (100% on Nolan Reimold, 34% on Buster Posey). He leaned heavily on his COL exposure enroute to a 87.5% cash rate and managed to snag a 4th place finish on the back of C.J. Cron, but didn’t stack the leaderboard as heavily as Saahil.

Single-Entry Winner of the Game

Tied for 1st place, hampton9 followed the COL herd but differentiated himself from the pack by paying down for a few extras (C.J. Cron, Marcus Semien) while paying up at pitching with Arrieta (instead of the often seen Jose Fernandez).

Single-Entry vs. Assani/SaahilSud/youdacao

Out of 2500 entries in the Triple Play, 690 of those entries (27.6%) were entered courtesy of players using a single bullet. The table below compares the exposures of those single entries to the exposures of Assani, SaahilSud, youdacao, and 25 other top professionals picked off of RotoGrinders’ leaderboard:
