MLB Big Events: BubbleBoy Takes Down the DFBC Q

Last night was just another big Tuesday across the industry, and several Grinders were able to post big nights across the big three sites. DraftStreet ran a Super Qualifier for their DSBC, which awarded 5 DSBC tickets but cost over $1K to enter, and FanDuel ran another $535 Q for the end-of-season DFBC in addition to the $65K Monster. In terms of prize pools, DraftKings topped any other GPP industry-wide with the $100K Perfect Pitch. Let’s get to the breakdowns and recognize the members who finished towards top of those scoreboards!

Congrats to jesuitpong on taking 5th place and securing a DSBC entry in last night’s Super Q! Kole Calhoun was priced at under $5K last night and became basically a GPP must-have when he capped off an already strong performance with a late-inning HR, and that shot was a big part of why jesuitpong was able to win a DSBC seat and a shot at a cool $1,000,000. Brett Gardner was another of his key producers, along with pitchers Michael Wacha and Zack Greinke. McJester finished just 2 points out of the 5th place cutoff for a DSBC ticket; both tipandpick (a new celebrity in the RG office thanks to Duckie’s Tournament of Shame) and BeepImaJeep also finished in the top ten.

He had to sweat this one out until the very end, but in the end it was bubbleboy (aka PatJZ80 on RG) on top of last night’s $535 Q. He’s headed to Vegas due in large part to big games from Billy Hamilton, Todd Frazier and Michael Wacha, the latter finally getting his strikeout numbers back to normal. Bubbleboy also registered a 4th place finish, good for another $1,750. Mrhaha (3rd place) caught huge games from Kole Calhoun and Jonathan Lucroy, and fell just under 2 points away from taking down the DFBC seat himself. Bw5126, Al_Smizzle and joeyengland98 also finished in the top ten.

FanDuel $65K Monster

Toddy (jordantodd on RG) was tops among RotoGrinders members in Tuesday’s Monster, finishing in 3rd place. He was part of the 12.2% of the field that paid the $5500 price tag for Mike Trout, who was more then worth it with his multi-HR game. Kole Calhoun, Anthony Rendon and Lonnie Chisenhall also contributed big games, but the Cubs bullpen blowing Shark’s shot at the win cost Toddy the chance to finish in the top two (although I’m sure he wasn’t complaining with this outcome). Aaronklaw finished 5th with an Angels stack (Trout, Calhoun, Pujols, Kendrick), while bubbleboy carried over his big night in the DFBC into an 8th place finish in this one.

SiriusXM and GrindersLive host Al_Smizzle picked up a 4th place finish in Tuesday’s Perfect Game thanks to monster nights from Jonathan Lucroy (37 DK points) and Kole Calhoun (29 DK points). Jon Lester and Jeff Samardzija weren’t great but produced almost 50 FP’s between the two of them, and a two triple game from Jean Segura also helped to pave the way for Smizz. ChefPwnSauce hit big on his Angels stack to finish 5th, and received an unexpected 10 K’s and a win from the Halo’s stater Matt Shoemaker, who most of the field was targeting with Cleveland bats. Shoemaker, Trout and Calhoun combined for about 100 FP’s, so he didn’t need a ton of help from the rest of his lineup. Jaugust922, cchscmd and BirdWings also finished in the top ten.
