Pitcher Grind Down
- Hector Santiago – Line set to 9.5 with the BoSox a strong favorite? I’ll pass on Hector.
- Ryan Dempster – I’m a Red Sox fan so I’m going to keep this short and sweet. No.
Batter Grind Down
- Chicago White Sox – Adam Dunn is 5-17 off Dempster with…wait for it…13 WALKS. I think he’s a safe bet to get on base tonight. Dempster is also allowing righties to a .874 OPS against so look at Alexei Ramirez at the SS slot and even Josh Phegley as a nice, cheap catching option. I wish the White Sox had a few stronger bats though, so I could really pile on my boy Dempster.
- Boston – Shane Victorino is beyond hot right now AND he crushes left handed pitching. No need to overthink it just get him in your lineups. Big Papi has been awful recently and may even get the night off against a lefty. Pedroia, Napoli, Gomes and potentially Bogearts make for a nice Boston mini-stack though with the afore mentioned Flyin Hawaiian.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Julio Teheran – 2.71 home ERA and over a strikeout per inning pitched means Teheran is definitely in play against the hapless Fish. I’d probably say he’s my top pitching option of the night if not for the fact that getting a win against this next guy is always a challenge.
- Jose Fernandez – Somehow he’s yet to face the Braves but Friday will be his coming out party. The Braves are no doubt a solid offensive team but Thursday night was a perfect microcosm of their season. They strikeout a bunch and will burn you with big hits. Fernandez is in that elite class of pitchers now though and should be able to avoid the really bad innings. He’s also only given up 8 HR on the season. Play him on any site where the W doesn’t mean everything.
Batter Grind Down
Gonna save everyone some time here and say just avoid the batters in this game. Braves bats will probably be too expensive and the Marlins are the Marlins.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Dillon Gee – Apparently it’s “step up for Harvey” time in New York. Niese tosses a gem on Wednesday and then Carlos Torres puts a nice game together on Thursday. Unfortunately for Gee, he won’t have the pleasure of pitching in the spacious Citi Field. He has a 4.75 road ERA and the Nats blew up for 9 runs on Thursday. Pass.
- Jordan Zimmermann – I’d like to take a moment to say that I HATE THE NATIONALS PITCHERS. I’ve taken Strasburg 4 times all season. Once he left with an injury, once he got roasted by Miami, once he got tossed in the 1st inning and then this week mother nature took him out. The same goes for Zimmermann who seems to always disappoint when you expect a good outing. The only thing going for him is that the Mets are trading away another hitter every day. This is gonna be surprising, but I’m avoiding Zimmermann.
Batter Grind Down
- Gee’s allowing lefties to hit .299 against on the season with a nearly .900 OPS so I’d say that Span, Laroche and Harper are all in play. And as long as Desmond/Werth are hot they have to be in play as well. This goes as one of my favorite stack options of the night.
- I don’t even know who the Mets might play anymore but that Murphy kid isn’t half bad. He’s also 9-31 lifetime off Zimm with 3 HRs. He could be an upside play for variance in GPP’s this evening.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Liam Hendriks – Don’t do it. Rangers are red hot.
- Yu Darvish – He’s a -300 favorite. He tops the pitching options of the night, especially at home where he has a 2.7 ERA and 11.1 K/9 rate. I’d go into more specifics but I think you should know by this point in the season that Darvish against the Twins is a terrific option if you can afford him. Personally, I’m looking elsewhere tonight just because of his hefty price tag and a number of other solid options available.
Batter Grind Down
- Twins – Pass. Although after watching King Felix and Waino blow up in epic proportions this week I can’t say anything would shock me anymore.
- Rangers – Top stack of the night by far. Righties have an OPS over .900 against Liam and lefties are around .880. Any of these bats have to be in play especially since that Texas lineup is scorching hot and finishing their best month in franchise history. Alex Rios has been great and is worth an increased price tag right now. Profar hits righties really well if you need some value from that LU. Obviously Kinsler, Beltre and Pierzynski are strong options too.

Pitcher Grind Down
- Jered Weaver – Dream Weaver threw a gem together against a lineup that had beat him up a few times earlier this year on Tuesday against the M’s. He has still struggled on the road overall though and this Brewers lineup is looking a little stronger on paper with Ramirez tearing it up in the middle. I like, don’t love, Weaver tonight.
- Wily Peralta – He had back to back rough starts against the Reds which is understandable since Cincy has been hitting the cover off the ball. The Angels have not been that way though and while he has nice K upside, I still don’t think I could use him unless in a desperate pinch for a 2nd pitcher.
Batter Grind Down
- Angels – The line is set at 8 with Weaver being a rare road favorite so it’s safe to say Vegas sees Anaheim scoring some runs. Hamilton, Shuck and Calhoun make for strong OF plays against Peralta who’s allowed lefties to hit .267 against on the season with a HR every 30 or so ABs. Righties have done about the same off Wily so Trout and Trumbo could also be in play. It’s a hitters park as well so the Angels may have more upside than usual.
- Brewers – Aramis Ramirez, Krush Davis Light and Gindl Fire are all decent options despite a tough matchup with Weaver. All three are red hot right now and a guy like Davis can be had for a STEAL on DraftKings tonight (hint).
