What Vegas Says

Pitcher Grind Down

MIA – Nate Eovaldi got rocked in his last start and I think we were all waiting for that one to happen. He had been pitching much better than anyone expected and I have to think that his confidence is a bit shot after giving up 9 earned runs in only 3 innings in his last start. I think the Dodgers get to him too. Rating = 3

LADZack Greinke is a high strikeout pitcher that typically has better success at home. But he gets a very favorable matchup against the Marlins today in a very pitcher friendly ballpark. Love the matchup and the upside for Greinke. Rating = 8

Batter Grind Down

MIAGiancarlo Stanton is really the only Marlins bat that I pay much attention to. He has had a nice little 4 game stretch and is worth a look if he is cheap. I could see him taking one of Greinke’s fastballs deep. The rest of the team should struggle though.

LADCarl Crawford is a guy that I feel is underpriced on sites all across the board. He is a .300 hitter with some speed and some pop playing on one of the best offenses in baseball. Keep taking him at his low price. You also have to like the matchup for Adrian Gonzalez who is Mr. Consistent.

What Vegas Says

Pitcher Grind Down

CHI – What can I say about Jake Arrieta, his numbers are average, his K rate is average, his run support is average. Now throw in the fact that the wind is blowing out in Wrigley, and I think it’s safe to say that Arrieta is not going to be the difference in you winning your league. Rating = 2

WAS – Ross Ohlendorf has had a good season, but if you look at his track record the past few years, he is a pitcher that you want to pick on, not a pitcher that you want on your team. With wind blowing out in Wrigley, I’m expecting him to have a very short evening on the mound. Rating = 1

Batter Grind Down

CHI – Love the bats from both teams tonight with that strong wind blowing out to left field. For the Cubs, I am targeting Anthony Rizzo, Nate Schierholtz, and Donnie Murphy.

WAS – Get your stacks ready, or at least your mini stacks. All Nationals in the lineup that are batting 1-6 are in play. And they are all good plays too.

What Vegas Says

Pitcher Grind Down

TEXDerek Holland is the pitcher that you want on your squad tonight if you can only take one. Holland is the biggest favorite, faces the team that strikes out the most, and is coming off 3 very impressive starts in a row. The Astros aren’t terrible against lefties, but they still aren’t good against them. Take Holland and his 7+ innings with 8 K’s. Rating = 10

HOUErik Bedard has everything going against him in this one. He has been pitching terribly, he has a tough matchup, he’s pitching in a hitter’s park, and he is a monster underdog. Rating = 1

Batter Grind Down

TEX – Seems like we are talking about a Texas stack every night, but once again, you have to love the Rangers bats. They have been hot lately and the Rangers really have some guys that hit lefties well. Ian Kinsler and Adrian Beltre are obvious picks, but the guy I’m looking to for a big night is Alex Rios.

HOU – Ignore any potential BvP plays here.

What Vegas Says

Pitcher Grind Down

KC – The White Sox have been making it tough on their opposing pitchers lately. They always seem like a good team to take a pitcher against, but their offense has been putting up runs. I don’t trust Jeremy Guthrie that much anyway because he gives up a lot of HR’s and now I have an excuse not to take him. Rating = 5

CWSAndre Rienzo has 4 starts under his belt so far, none of them have been great, but none of them have been terrible either. He may struggle against all of these left hand bats of the Royals though and let’s be honest, who is actually going to be taking Rienzo tonight? Rating = 3

Batter Grind Down

KCEric Hosmer, Alex Gordon, and Salvador Perez all hit righties well. I think they have a good shot to put up 5+ runs tonight.

CWS – The White Sox have bene scoring runs but they aren’t exactly a team that you can count on. Gordon Beckham looks like a good sleeper pick though.

What Vegas Says

Pitcher Grind Down

LAAJerome Williams doesn’t have a ton of upside and he is facing an Indians team that can really string together hits. He is an underdog tonight which I don’t love. Rating = 3

CLEJustin Masterson isn’t nearly as good of a fantasy option when he is on the road, but he is facing a very short handed Angels team, especially if Trout is out of the lineup again. If Trout it out, I think Masterson offers some good value on multi-pitcher sites. Rating = 6

Batter Grind Down

LAA – Masterson is very good at shutting down right hand bats, but lefties do find some success against him. If you really feel like rolling the dice, take Josh Hamilton tonight.

CLE – The Indians look like they are in a pretty good spot tonight. Jason Kipnis and Michael Bourn both have the lefty/righty splits in their favor and can both steal bases.
