What Vegas Says
- Over/Under Total Runs – 9.0
- Favored Team – DET -136
Pitcher Grind Down
DET – Rick Porcello has been surprisingly good over the last month or so, especially in his last 4 starts where he has only given up 4 earned runs combined while striking out 30 batters over 27 innings. He is finally starting to pitch up to his potential. He draws a tough matchup against the Orioles though, just ask Justin Verlander how tough their lineup is. I think he is worth a shot in GPP’s, but not in 50/50’s. In Play
BAL – Chris Tillman has been a pretty average pitcher this season, 3.61 ERA and a 1.280 WHIP aren’t bad, but a matchup against the Tigers in Detroit doesn’t look too appealing. Avoid
Batter Grind Down
DET – Miguel Cabrera is a great play today if you can afford him. He is not only locked in right now, but also has good history against Tillman and already has one HR off of him. I also like the way Austin Jackson is playing, he is getting on base and scoring runs.
BAL – Chris Davis is the guy you want to target if you are going to roll with any of the Orioles. He crushes right hand pitching and has already hit 2 HR’s off of Porcello. Manny Machado continues to rake and is also in play against Porcello.

What Vegas Says
- Over/Under Total Runs – 8.0
- Favored Team – ARI -146
Pitcher Grind Down
ARI – I think this is a great spot for Trevor Cahill. He has been struggling lately, but had a decent outing against the Padres in his last start. I think the matchup against the Marlins should be just what he needs to get him out of his funk. In his start against them earlier this season, he threw 8 solid innings and only allowed 1 earned run. Target
MIA – Jose Fernandez is a solid young pitcher that really has some good stuff. He is averaging almost 10 K’s per 9 innings and has really managed to keep his ERA down. His only problem is that he pitches much better at home and his ERA jumps above 4 on the road. Tough place to pitch against a tough team at home. Avoid
Batter Grind Down
ARI – Paul Goldschmidt has homered in back to back games now and last night’s was in walk-off fashion. I think you have to keep taking the hot bat, especially if his price is still somewhat cheaper than usual. Miguel Montero remains a great value play at catcher.
MIA – I think Trevor Cahill pitches well in this one, but it is a hitter’s park so we could certainly see some runs from the Marlins. I think Giancarlo Stanton is playable, especially in GPP’s.

What Vegas Says
- Over/Under Total Runs – 7.0
- Favored Team – SF -147
Pitcher Grind Down
SF – Madison Bumgarner had his best outing of the season in his last start and I think he is rounding into form. This season he has a 2.77 ERA with a 1.080 WHIP at home which is very impressive, but I expect those numbers to get even better as the season rolls along. I love the matchup against the Padres, I think he will get close to double digit K’s. Target
SD – Eric Stults is a nice young pitcher, but he is not anywhere near the same level as Bumgarner. I’m a little confused as to why this line is only -147. Stults hasn’t been as good on the road and I think he struggles today and picks up the loss. Avoid
Batter Grind Down
SF – Buster Posey crushes lefties and he crushes when he is at home and he gets both of those tonight. Posey is batting .354 against lefties and .348 at home. I expect a nice game from him. I also like Hunter Pence as a sneaky GPP play.
SD – I’m going to pretend that the Padres bats aren’t even available today.

LAD vs R | LAD BvP | NYY vs R | NYY BvP
What Vegas Says
- Over/Under Total Runs – 8.5
- Favored Team – NYY -138
Pitcher Grind Down
NYY – Phil Hughes hasn’t been very good at home this season. He has an ERA of 6.52 and a WHIP of 1.660. While you would think that he has a good matchup against the Dodgers, they hit righties well and I don’t think Hughes is in a great spot. Avoid
LAD – Chris Capuano gets the start of the night game and while he will get to face all of the left hand bats of the Yankees, I just can’t picture him having a good game. He has an ERA over 5 on the season and Yankee Stadium is a tough place to pitch. Avoid
Batter Grind Down
NYY – The one thing to consider in this matchup is that Capuano has held lefties to a .175 batting average so I wouldn’t stack too many of these left hand Yankee bats. I think they will score some runs, but find out who the right hand bats in the lineup are and take a shot on them.
LAD – I really like the left hand bats of Adrian Gonzalez and Andre Ethier in this matchup against Hughes. Hughes has given up a .284 average and a .833 OPS against lefties this season.

WSN vs R | WSN BvP | PHI vs L | PHI BvP
What Vegas Says
- Over/Under Total Runs – 7.5
- Favored Team – WAS -103
Pitcher Grind Down
PHI – Kyle Kendrick has had some struggles lately, he has given up 10 earned runs in his last two starts, but you have to give him a pass because those starts were in Colorado and Milwaukee, two tough places to pitch. I think this is a great spot for him to bounce back. The Nats offense just hasn’t been that great and Kendrick should be able to find success against them. In Play
WAS – Gio Gonzalez has looked really good in his last 3 starts. He is keeping the hits down and is striking out more batters than he was earlier in the season. I think the Phillies are going to struggle against Gio because their two best bats are lefties. Target
Batter Grind Down
PHI – This should be a fairly low scoring game and like I said, the Phillies best bats are lefties. Unless you want to roll with Michael Young who hits lefties well, I would avoid the Phillies.
WAS – Bryce Harper has great numbers against Kendrick, too bad he isn’t going to be playing. Ian Desmond is 10/25 against him with 2 HR’s and is a great value play at SS. Other than that, not a lot to love here.
