Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?

What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

CheeseIsGood: I prefer smaller-field contests tonight, as it feels like one of those slates where large-field MME is going to be won by a very random, unpredictable combo of cheap nonsense pitchers. In smaller fields, I can just concentrate on the 4-5 pitchers that I have confidence in, even though none of them are likely to put up slate-breaking scores. While there are plenty of offenses you can spread out with, I would prefer to keep a smaller pool there as well, focusing on the Dodgers and Cubs, followed by the Brewers, Cardinals, and Tigers. The Red Sox are the high-total offense that I’m willing to fade.

ebeimfohr: Despite the size of the slate, pitching is not particularly appealing on the whole. I will be jamming Payton Tolle into all of my lineups on both sites, which will require some pivots at SP2 on DK and with some bats on both sites. As of this morning, the Cubs are projecting for heavy ownership, and I want to be underweight on them (especially given how many attackable pitchers there are) and overweight on Tolle. In particular, if the Dodgers’ pOWN% does not skyrocket, they will be my priority against Merrill Kelly, but the Marlins, Cardinals, and Tigers also pop at lower projected ownership.

boggslite: Large-field tournaments – Even though there are some quality arms up top to choose from, I’m not expecting any slate-breaking performances where I feel I need to go all-in on one particular pitcher. I see a lot more downside from some of the cheaper options, which makes me lean toward two of the more expensive options, Drew Rasmussen and Payton Tolle. Offensively, I will build around the Red Sox, Cubs, and Marlins. Each of those teams have plus matchups in favorable hitting weather with bad bullpens to attack, which hopefully leads to some big innings.

Dean78904: I prefer single-entry and smaller-field contests. I expect my pitching pool to be small, as I don’t expect to stray away from some combination of Payton Tolle, Logan Gilbert, and Drew Rasmussen. If anyone else were to jump in the pool, it would be Nathan Eovaldi or Max Fried (pending what the MLB weather report looks like closer to lock), but that’s it for me, as I don’t expect to go cheap at pitcher. Offense is tricky tonight, as I like a handful of teams (e.g. Cubs, Red Sox, Dodgers, Cardinals, Guardians), but I don’t really love anyone or see a specific team as a must-roster. My expectation is that I won’t run out a traditional 4-4 or 5-3 iteration in my main lineup, as I’m much more likely to roll out something like a 3-2-2-1.
