What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
CheeseIsGood: This is a wild slate, with a huge group of high-upside pitchers and a very small group of top tier offense. Because I am not going to try and play all of these aces, and because I don’t want to try to spread out to all the nonsense, dart-throw offenses, my preference is with smaller-field tournaments tonight. The closest thing I have to a stand is fading Corbin Burnes and most of the pitchers priced over $10,000 on both sites. I’m just going to play Dodgers and Diamondbacks chalk and hope that everyone else overthinks it.
stevietpfl: I think this is the best pitching slate we’ve had in weeks. I’m going to focus on large-field tournaments. Depending on some of the weather spots, we have 8-12 pitchers who are playable. I want a larger pitcher pool while narrowing down my stacks. I like the Dodgers and Diamondbacks a lot tonight. They’re going to be my highest-owned stacks.
boggslite: Large-field tournaments – On a slate loaded with top-tier pitching at various price points, I will prioritize upside over safety, mainly targeting high-strikeout pitchers even in difficult matchups. As much as I would love to pay up to be contrarian, Garrett Crochet is the only expensive option that I will likely consider, instead focusing on the mid-tier pricing where guys like Chris Sale and Cole Ragans are. My primary stacks will be the Diamondbacks and Dodgers, and I will mix-and-match different pitching combinations while building around those two teams.
Dean78904: We have a slew of good pitchers throwing baseballs today, so the opportunity cost is real. Corbin Burnes is currently projected to be the most popular pitcher, which is a little confusing considering he is not one of those good pitchers—at least not this year from an advanced stats perspective. It’s the Rockies, so I get it, but I’m going to need a SP with more than a 19.8% K rate on this slate, so I’m just taking Cole Ragans and Chris Sale over Burnes 99 times out of 100 here. I’m leaning in on the Dodgers and Diamondbacks, with the Padres being my first pivot.
Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
