MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Monday, July 1
Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?
squirrelpatrol: Willy Adames
headChopper: Rhys Hoskins
ebeimfohr: Ryan McMahon
eys819: Rhys Hoskins
Who is your top overall hitter (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
squirrelpatrol: Willy Adames – On DraftKings, we’re currently projecting Adames to have just the 6th-highest pOWN% on his own team despite having the 2nd-highest projection of all hitters (across all teams). On FanDuel, Adames is much more affordable, but he still has just the 3rd-highest pOWN% among Brewers despite having the 2nd-highest projection. Adames leads the Brewers with 13 HRs and has added 10 SBs on the season.
headChopper: Ryan McMahon – It’s a Coors Field game on a short slate against a bad pitcher, and McMahon is not getting the pOWN% I thought he would. He’s the best hitter in the Colorado lineup, and the Rockies have the 2nd-highest team total on this slate. Bryse Wilson pitched well last game, but he is average at best. His xFIP and SIERA this season exceed his ERA by nearly a full run. He only strikes out about 19% of the batters he faces and has given up more hard contact on this slate than any other pitcher.
ebeimfohr: Lane Thomas – Going a little more off the board with a contrarian option, but Thomas is in a sneaky good spot. He has been elite vs. LHP in 2024 with a .403 xwOBA and .237 xISO. David Peterson has struggled with righties to the tune of a .386 xwOBA allowed while striking out just 15% of them. Thomas brings power and speed to the table as a low-owned pivot in a great spot on this short slate.
eys819: Ryan McMahon – Rhys Hoskins is underpriced in Coors against a lefty, but I think that will lead to uncomfortable levels of ownership on a 3-game slate. I love the pivot to the other side of the game with McMahon. He owns a .208 ISO and .349 wOBA against RHP since the beginning of last season. Opposing starter Bryse Wilson has been respectable against righties, but he has been blown up by lefties for a .224 ISO and .380 wOBA this season.
