MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Monday, September 16

Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?

SquirrelPatrol: Christian Walker
headChopper: Christian Walker
ebeimfohr: Corbin Carroll
TheLuuch: Corbin Carroll

Who is your favorite hitter (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

SquirrelPatrol: Bryce Harper (FD) / Yordan Alvarez (DK) – There are some good spots for offense, even away from Coors Field, and we should have the savings available to get there, but the spots are different according to which site you’re playing on. For FanDuel, Bryce Harper is facing RHP Aaron Civale on the road in Milwaukee. The Phillies’ 4.1 implied run total is the highest of any team outside of Coors Field, and Harper has a .382 wOBA vs. RHP this season. DraftKings has the HOU/SD game, where Yordan Alvarez (.389 wOBA vs. RHP this year) is facing Yu Darvish.

headChopper: Christian Walker – I’m not trying to split the atom here; the best hitters tonight are on the Diamondbacks. They have a massive team total in Coors Field versus a poor pitcher. This lineup is littered with a sea of green in Plate IQ, so how can you really tell the difference between the 6 guys with .200+ ISOs vs right-handed pitching this season? It’s impossible, and you are looking for the slightest thing to lean toward a particular hitter here. I’ll use the old reliable BvP model and see Walker is 14 for 27 with only 4 Ks against Senzatela – that’s enough to get my vote.

ebeimfohr: Joc Pederson – He is one of the top projected hitters in the DBacks lineup, but he’s generating less pOWN% than several of his teammates. The huge thing I like to look for with guys like Joc is the opponent’s bullpen. He is as big of a splits hitter as you can get, and he’ll often get pinch-hit for against LHP. The Rockies, however, only have 1 lefty in their entire bullpen, helping any pinch-hit risk. And Joc still CRUSHES righties, with a .401 xwOBA and .252 xISO in 2024.

TheLuuch: Michael Toglia – This matchup vs. Merrill Kelly fascinates me. Kelly’s sinker and slider have both been brutal this season. After looking at his Baseball Savant page, both of those pitches are moving much less (vertically) than they were compared to last year (and most previous years) – and hitters are teeing off on them. Maybe that has something to do with it, maybe not. Regardless, Toglia has cleaned up against both of those pitches this year (via PlateIQ), and he’s projected to come in at very friendly ownership.
