What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
stlcardinals84: I will be playing around 20 entries in the larger-field tournaments. I plan to be overweight on some of the middle-tier pitchers like Tylor Megill and Lance McCullers, and that will likely put me underweight on some of the aces. That will free up some salary for me to spend up on bats, as I really like the Padres and Mets as top-end stacks.
Krayton: I will be playing 20-entry max and single-entry contests. I have quite a bit of interest in expensive stacks like SDP, LAD, and ARI. As much as I like the spend-up options at pitching, I am finding myself in the middle tier (Shane Smith, Tylor Megill, and Lance McCullers) that allows me to get the top bats I want. I will have Cole Ragans in my pool for 20-entry max, but I will be looking to save at pitching. Even though COL has not been good, and even though they rank at the bottom for ISO, they are cheap. Ryan McMahon, Michael Toglia, and Jordan Beck are a trio I like to build around, and they have been playing well.
TJ Zwarych: I’ll be playing 150 lineups in large-field GPPs. I plan to get significantly overweight on Garrett Crochet and Cole Ragans while fading Joe Ryan in my GPP builds. I’ll still mix in some cheap SP2s so that I can afford some Coors Field stacks, but Ragans and Crochet in the same game will be my priorities while I mix and match stacks alongside them.
tcsmith031: I will be playing 20-entry max and 150-entry max. The Padres are a scary fade given their implied run total north of 7, but I’ll likely come in underweight on 4-man and 5-man stacks. There are plenty of other high-upside offenses out there, with BAL, LAD, and ARI looking like solid alternatives. I’m also going to go back to the well with LAA as a value stack. Most of my Padres exposure will come via mini-stacks and one-offs.

About the Author

Robert Brown (aka Epignosis) was having lunch at a sports bar. A football game was on. He remarked to his wife that if he could have a second life, he’d like to be someone who enjoyed watching sports. That enjoyment began when he signed up for a fantasy football league that needed one more player. Since then, he has enjoyed playing NFL, NBA, and (especially) MLB DFS. When not teaching American literature, editing content for RotoGrinders (which he has done since 2019), or making lineups, Epignosis is rocking out or jazzing it up on one of several possible instruments.
