MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Thursday, August 1st

Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?

SquirrelPatrol: Bobby Witt
headChopper: Jose Ramirez
Dean78904: Bobby Witt
ebeimfohr: Bobby Witt

Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

SquirrelPatrol: Carson Fulmer (FD) / Ryan Feltner (DK) – The pitchers in the COL/LAA game are both cheap, with their prices flipped between FanDuel and DraftKings. With the price differences, I prefer Fulmer on FanDuel and Feltner on DraftKings. Both pitchers get good matchups, with the Rockies having the highest K% in the league and ranking 28th in wOBA on the road, while the Angels rank 23rd in wOBA vs. RHP.

headChopper: Seth Lugo – I like Sonny Gray a lot also, but Lugo is the safer option, in my opinion. The Tigers have the 2nd-lowest team total on the slate. Detroit typically puts out a lineup against right-handers that includes several high-strikeout batters. Lugo has changed his arsenal this season against left-handers, which has made him much more successful against them. The tiebreaker for me may very well be the weather, which looks like it may favor Lugo slightly over Sonny Gray.

Dean78904: Sonny Gray – I am not wowed by Gray, but officially, he is my favorite arm on the slate. By far, he has the highest K rate (30.6%) and lowest SIERA (2.96) among those throwing baseballs tonight, so that checks out. The 35-year-old has punched out at least 6 in his last 6 starts, and the Cubs have enough free-swingers to keep that streak alive. Heads up that game conditions are looking potentially dicey as of this writing (currently Yellow/Orange), so you are going to need to see Kevin Roth’s updates in his MLB Weather analysis.

ebeimfohr: Ryan Feltner – I mentioned I’m looking to get uncomfortable at pitcher, and Feltner stands out for me there. He’s clearly not some ace, but I think he can be just a tick underrated as not a total gas can. More importantly, he’s facing the Angels’ woeful offense, and he actually has a 22% K rate vs. righties with just a .310 xwOBA allowed this year.
