Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?
squirrelpatrol: Kyle Tucker
headChopper: Kyle Tucker
Dean78904: Kyle Tucker
ebeimfohr: Yordan Alvarez
How do you plan to beat the field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
squirrelpatrol: I’ll likely match the field or go slightly under the field with Tyler Glasnow and then spread out my exposure to stacks on offense. Glasnow is the clear top option with excellent strikeout upside, but he is priced that way. I’ll likely go under the field on the popular Astros and Dodgers stacks and go over the field on some of the sneakier offenses.
headChopper: Going underweight on Tyler Glasnow, which will put me overweight on my other options at pitcher. Then, at hitting, I am not worried about full-on double-stacking. In 150 lineups, I’ll have some 5-man stacks on DK and some 4-man stacks on FD, but I will not do nearly as much stacking as a large slate.
Dean78904: I’m going right back to the Astros. I like the elite bats plenty, but we live in the world of a salary cap, so I’ll be using the back end of the lineup to make things work (Jon Singleton and Joey Loperfido are my current favorites). I’m also in on the Tyler Glasnow chalk, so I’m going to need to find ways to be different. One way to do that is playing the Phillies as a mini stack or one-offing a lefty power bat. Another option would be to not traditionally full stack (4-4 FD / 5-3 DK) and rather homer-hunt with 4-2-1-1 type of combinations. Another option I’m considering is using the A’s as a mini stack, because A) they are not as bad as advertised, and B) Cristian Javier might be broken.
ebeimfohr: With elite spend-up options both stack-wise and at pitcher, that will have a natural trickle-down effect to chalkier value options. Pivoting off of very popular, lesser-talented hitters, especially on smaller slates like the 5-gamer tonight, is one of my favorite ways to play it. It allows us to not have to get super cute with the very elite options at the high end of pitching and hitting.
