What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?

CheeseIsGood: We are still in early season mode, which means I will be going with MME in large-field GPPs. The offenses look very spread out, and other than a slight lean to the Royals, I just want to play a bunch of everybody to try and catch the outliers. I will not be goofing around much on the pitcher side, focusing heavily on Logan Gilbert, and then a mix of Chris Sale, Logan Webb, Justin Steele, and maybe some Simeon Woods Richardson.

headChopper: I’ll be multi-entering in large-field GPPs. I’m going to narrow my pitcher pool down to just a handful of guys. This looks like a 4-5 man stack day, and I’ll get different in my secondary stacks, which I’ll limit to 2 max.

stevietpfl: I prefer smaller tournaments and typically play 3-to-5 lineups. With the limited pitching options on this slate, I might just lock in Logano Gilbert. I’ll spread out my SP2 ownership on DK and have a good mix of stacks.

Dean78904: I mostly focus on single entry and smaller field contests. Additionally, I have been playing H2Hs and 50/50 contests early in the season. We have a rare pivot opportunity tonight as the slate’s two best SPs, Logan Gilbert and Chris Sale, pitch late in the night. This sets up a scenario where we can play the early results of our bats and adjust accordingly. It is hard to say this early, but Gilbert is likely to be at least 2x as rostered as Sale. If my bats are underwhelming, I’ll strongly consider turning my Gilbert shares into Sale, as presumably a big chunk of the teams I am behind have Gilbert on layaway. Meaning Gilbert could throw a CGSO with 27 Ks, and I’d still lose. There is no penalty for losing by more, so at least give yourself a chance with Sale. Inversely, if I happen to have a Chris Sale team and my offense is crushing early, I’d pivot to the “safer” Gilbert, assuming I have the salary to do so.
