Who is your favorite hitter to spend up for in cash games?
CheeseIsGood: Shohei Ohtani
headChopper: Shohei Ohtani
stevietpfl: Shohei Ohtani
Dean78904: Shohei Ohtani
What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
CheeseIsGood: I will be playing both single-entry and MME contests, and I’ll use the same narrowed-down pool in both. The Dodgers and Jacob deGrom are clear chalk, but both fall into the category of “don’t overthink it” for me. I’ll just hope to get different enough with the other pieces around them. I think that using Trevor McDonald as my SP2 will be somewhat different, and then I’m just going to hope that everyone fades the cheap Padres.
headChopper: I am playing 1 lineup on each site, mainly in small-field tournaments. I won’t stray too far away from the top pitching options. The top-projected arms are so good that one of them should blow past any hopes of a cheap pitcher matching their production. You just have to figure out which one it is. I am currently leaning toward Jacob deGrom. For offense, with a big implied run total yet again, I can see fully stacking the Dodgers, but after that, I might end up going very minimal on stacks. There’s not a lot that jumps out to me. The Phillies look solid, but then there is a big drop-off for me, so I might end up with some Dodgers and Phillies and the rest being one-offs.
stevietpfl: I will be focusing on small-field contests. It’s a fun slate that has 4-6 pitchers worth playing, so I’m going to spread out my pitching exposure and focus on bats. The Dodgers are the top stack on the slate for me, and even with the ownership I am expecting, I’m still going to play them as the top offense. I also like the Brewers, Phillies, Royals, and Diamondbacks. The Diamondbacks are projecting as the highest-owned stack in our MLB DFS sims tool (SimLabs). When stacking them, I’ll look to make my stacks a little different with hitters from the bottom of the lineup or with pitchers who are lower in pOWN%.
Dean78904: I mostly focus on single-entry and smaller-field contests. I’m just going to play chalky Jacob deGrom. I will absolutely try and pair him with Zack Wheeler on DK. If I can’t quite make that work, Taj Bradley and Trevor McDonald are next up. I like the Dodgers plenty, but I’m afraid the salary cap is going to keep me from being over the field on them. Beyond the Dodgers, my favorite teams are the Royals, Padres, and Diamondbacks.
Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
