What is your preferred tournament format (e.g. large-field, single-entry) to play on this slate? How do you plan to beat that field of opponents? What tactic or strategy will set you apart?
stlcardinals84: This is perhaps the toughest slate I have seen all season. There are a lot of top-end pitchers bunched together, and there are almost no offenses that stand out. I don’t see any offense that will project as massive chalk outside of maybe the Twins and Tigers, and even their ownership shouldn’t be extreme. Most of the other elite offenses are also facing good pitchers. Frankly, I don’t think you need to worry about ownership one bit this evening. Just play the options that you like best, as nothing is going to be owned to extreme levels. For me, that means being overweight on Carlos Rodon and Hunter Greene as the top two pitchers. They sit at or near the top of the salary scale, but the lineup-building works fine with them in there, as there are plenty of affordable bats to target. I will be most overweight on the Twins as my favorite stack.
headChopper: I’m making one lineup on each site, focusing on smaller fields with single or limited entries. Based on early pOWN% numbers, attacking the lower part of the Twins lineup looks like a good place to stack to differentiate my lineup. Although Carlos Rodon stands out with strong numbers, I can choose from about 8–10 pitchers, and there’s a chance I won’t lose much at the position since many seem to be in the same tier for me.
stevietpfl: I’ll be focused on small field contests tonight. Depending on the weather in Tampa, I think we have 4 to 6 pitchers worth taking shots on. That makes me lean toward fewer entries into smaller field contests. I like the Twins, Phillies, Yankees, Rays, Cardinals, and Tigers. I will mix in some Braves, Diamondbacks, Dodgers, and Mariners as well. It’s a slate where I don’t need a lot of entries to get what I like.
Dean78904: I mostly focus on single-entry and small-field contests. As a general rule, I’m going to first spend up on a pitcher before a bat, and that is my expectation tonight. Meaning, if I can only have one, I’d build around Carlos Rodon before Shohei Ohtani. That said, this is a big slate with lots of cheap bats, so you can get them both fairly easily if you so desire, with the help of affordable Detroit, Kansas City, and Minnesota bats. I’m still debating the construction for my main lineup, but I’ll almost definitely have Carlos Rodon as a starting point. I’m not sure if I’ll get there, but I love the idea of getting far off the board in single-entry contests with a team like Atlanta or Philly (especially if Bryce Harper is back) as my lead stack.
Who is your favorite pitcher (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?
